7.3 Best Practices
The college is a government college, therefore all the financial assistance is given by the state government. It is the only government college in the district and caters to the needs of less affluent students who cannot afford to attend other private colleges present in the district. The college follows the state reservation policy with regard to admission of students. However, it has taken various initiatives to ensure equality in access to students from different sections of society.
Therefore, there are a high number of students seeking admission in the college each year. There is also constant emphasis from authorities to admit as many students as possible. Keeping in mind that the fees of the college are subsidized, students from less affluent families are able to afford the fees to attend college.
Although efforts have been made to take in as many students as possible, it is regrettable beyond the capacity of the college. However, the college has remained true to its principle which is to attempt to include maximum number of students. Unfortunately, the excess number of enrollment has resulted in packed classrooms, many times beyond their capacity.
Therefore, the practice of high enrollment adopted by the college has resulted in teachers giving their maximum effort. The college has made every effort to be inclusive in terms students enrollment. It has been a regular practice of the college to utilize infrastructure as well as resources in order to achieve maximum results in college development.
