EX 112 Translate into Uzbek and learn by heart.

  1. Great Britain is situated on an island. Great Britain consists of three parts. Their names are England, Scotland and Wales. Scotland is situated in the north of Great Britain, Wales – in the south-west and England – in the south-east.

Great Britain is surrounded by seas on all sides and is separated from the continent by the North Sea and the English Channel. The rivers in Great Britain are not long, but many of them are deep. The capital of Great Britain, London, is situated on the Thames River. There are many mountains in the north of England and in Scotland, but they are not very high. The highest mountain in Great Britain is Ben Nevis. There are many lakes in Scotland. The most beautiful is Loch Lomond.

  1. I have a brother. He likes to travel. This my brother has been to Great Britain. He liked this country very much. He says that English people are fond of traditions. They like old things very much.

  1. Great Britain has a very good position as it lies on the crossways of the sea routes from Europe to the other parts of the world. There are many countries which are connected with Great Britain by sea. Thanks to the Gulf-stream the climate of Great Britain is mild. It is often foggy and rainy. The summer is not very hot and the winter is not very cold. Winter temperature seldom falls below zero.

4. In the train

Nick with his father went to see Grandmother. In the train Nick every minute put his head out of the window. His father said, “Nick, keep quiet. Don’t put your head out of the window!” But Nick went on putting his head out of the window.

Here his father took Nick’s cap quietly, hid it behind his back and said, “You see, your cap has flown.” Nick was sorry for his cap and began to cry. Then his father said, “Well, whistle once! Perhaps, your cap will come back.”

Nick came up to the window and whistled. Nick’s father put quickly the cap on Nick’s head.

Oh! It was wonderful. Nick was very pleased. He took quickly his father’s cap and threw it out of the window. “Now it is your turn to whistle, Dad!” he said gaily.

5. A vacant seat

It was Sunday. The trains were overcrowded. A man was looking for a seat. Suddenly he saw a vacant seat. A small bag lay on that seat and a well-dressed man was sitting beside it. “Is this seat vacant?” asked the man. “No, it is not,” was the answer. “It is occupied by my friend. He will soon come. He has gone to buy newspapers.” “Well,” said the first man. “I’ll sit here till he comes.”

Ten minute passed.

“Your friend will miss the train.”

“Yes,” nervously replied the other.

The train started but nobody came.

“Your friend is late,” said the man. “But he must not lose his bag.” And with these words he took the bag and threw it out of the window.
