Full-time experiential program emphasizing delivery of pharmaceutical care in primary, secondary and tertiary patient care settings, as well as a means of integrating facts and principles received from antecedent courses. The process will occur in both institutional and ambulatory settings. At each practice setting, the student is expected to become a functioning component of the ongoing pharmaceutical care services through faculty instruction, self-learning, and by observing the modeling of attendant faculty members. This course expands a student’s experience beyond the major by exploring a common theme from other perspectives. Each instructor will develop a unique course that reflects the common theme. FFAS 2191 - Economics and Public Policy Issues

The purpose of this course is to teach you how to apply the economic way of thinking to analyze public policy issues. Emphasis will be placed on providing you with tools that have a wide applicability to thinking about a range of policy issues rather than extensive details about different issues. Part I of the class reviews basic economic concepts and the market economy. Part II introduces public choice and analyzes various policy issues by using economics to compare the operation of markets and polities. Course Attributes: Requires Instructor Approval.
FFAS 2411 - Public Affairs Seminar Internship

This six credit course is designed to give students a practitioner's understanding of presidential-congressional relations in an era of polarized politics. Its topics include: the dynamics of the legislative process; divided government; how presidents attempt to achieve their goals in a system of "separated institutions, sharing powers"; the dynamics of the legislative process; and the causes and consequences of polarized politics. Students registered in the seminar must intern 14-16 hours per week in either the legislative, judicial or executive branch or in a public, research or political organization involved in the national policy-making process. The U.S. Constitution sought to set up a government powerful enough to attain public ends and constrained enough to protect individual rights and liberty. It achieves this constraint by imposing the rule of law on the government and by dividing power among various offices and institutions. Yet this constitution - and any constitution - must be interpreted to be enforced. This course will look closely at the text of the U.S. Constitution, at what it meant for those who wrote it on behalf of their generation and those who came after.
