  1. We’re going to spend the month of August in Italy. We bought the tickets last week, and we’re going to leave on August 2nd.

  2. Tasha, age 9: When I grow up, I’m going to be the president of the United States.

It is better to use be going to to talk about a future plan or intention (something you want to do in the future). This shows that you made the decision to do this before speaking.
