“I am very touched to be in Yerevan for this occasion. It is an absolute necessity to for the Armenian Genocide to gain international recognition. Recognition is a question of dignity and honour, not only to recognise the past but also to reinforce ideals of human rights which are of great importance to world we live in today.”

Furthermore, Kaspar Karampetian the President of the European Armenian Federation of Justice and Democracy, a Brussels based political think tank also enforced:

Karekin II and Aram I urge Turkey to recognize Armenian Genocide and return Armenian Churches

12:16 24.04.2013
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, issued a statement today, urging Turkey to return confiscated Armenian Churches and Church Estates. The message runs as follows:

“In 2015, the Armenian people of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh and the diaspora will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire.

In 1915, more than 1.5 million Armenians became victims of genocide. The survivors on the roads of exile found shelter in Eastern Armenia, present-day Republic of Armenia, Syria, Lebanon and other Arabic nations, and in a number of other countries of the world.

The Genocide victims and the internally displaced people who lived under the jurisdiction of the Ottoman Empire in Western Armenia, Cilicia, and other regions of the Ottoman Empire, along with their own personal estates, also lost estates and holdings owned by the church – churches , sanctuaries and monasteries; religious, educational and charitable institutional centers; treasures of cultural and religious value – cross-stones (khachkars), illuminated manuscripts, icons and other items of value; and holdings owned by the State of Turkey under the classification of “abandoned estates”.

98 years after the Genocide the present Turkish nation, as the successors of the Ottoman Empire, not only deny that its predecessors plotted and committed the Genocide, but also continues its anti-Armenian policy, still retaining confiscated church estates and properties, and religious and cultural treasures of the Armenian people.

Therefore, We call on the Republic of Turkey and demand the following:

  1. To recognize the Armenian Genocide;

  2. To fully compensate the Armenians who suffered losses and the violation of their human and national rights;

  3. To immediately return the Armenian churches, monasteries, church properties, and spiritual and cultural treasures, to the Armenian people as their rightful owner.

Remembering the victims of the Armenian Genocide with prayers, We condemn any violation against God- given life, human dignity and the peaceful coexistence of people  “For God is not the God of discord, but of peace ” (Corinthians  14.33), and has called on people for love, solidarity and cooperation.

With gratitude We honor all nations and peoples who gave shelter to the Armenians displaced by Genocide, and showed compassion and brotherly love for the dispersed and exiled Armenians.

The Armenian nation will also be eternally grateful to all the nations who, guided by the principles of humanity and justice, have condemned and officially recognized the Armenian Genocide.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide we must put all our efforts into action to realize the demands of the Armenian nation for the sake of justice and defense of the rights of all Armenians.”

Serzh Sargsyan’s address on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day
09:28, 24 April, 2013
YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS: The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent an address on the occasion of the Remembrance Day of the Armenian Genocide. As Armenpress was reported by the Department for Public Relations and Mass Media of the Armenian President’s Staff, Serzh Sargsyan’s message said in particular:

“Dear Compatriots,

Today, we bow to the memory of innocent victims. The great majority of these victims didn’t even have graves.

One of the native and most ancient peoples of the region had been exterminated on its own land or sent into forced exile.

One of the native and most ancient peoples of the region as a result of the first Genocide of the 20th century lost its spiritual and cultural assets accumulated through the millennia, which being national – Armenian, as the pieces of art and momentous achievements had also had the universal value.

Because of the Genocide, one of the native and most ancient peoples of the region had also lost material assets accumulated through the millennia which had been appropriated by the Turkish state and its peoples.

Because of the Genocide, one of the native and most ancient peoples of the region had lost its right and opportunity to live in its homeland.

Dear Compatriots,

It is our duty to realize and to bring the attention of the international community to the fact that denial of the Genocide constitutes direct continuation of that very crime and that very crime is being carried out in modern Turkey.

Some are trying to persuade us “not to re-open the hundred years old wounds but to look forward.” Our response to this counsel is the following: Orhan Pamuk and Hrant Dink were not brought to trial a hundred years ago. They were tried right before our eyes. For the Armenian, as well as for the Turkish society this problem is current and urgent.

Dear Compatriots,

Each April 24th is the opportunity to renew our pledge to be loyal to the Armenian statehood whose existence precludes and will continue to preclude the repetition of the Armenian Genocide. And we, as a state and as a nation, in every corner of the world have been and will be fighting against all and every manifestation of the most horrendous crime against humanity – genocide, be it xenophobia or extermination, nonchalant silence or denial. We will fight with fervor because our standing as the people who had survived compels us to”.

Armenian community of Syria to organize events devoted to Armenian Genocide
10:10, 24 April, 2013
YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS: Various events will be organized in Syria devoted to the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. This was reported to Armenpress by the Press Secretary of the National Primacy of Aleppo Zhirayr Reyisyan. He stated that different events would be held in the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Armenian churches and schools of Syria.

“This year it would be very difficult for the Armenian community of Syria to hold protest actions and active events, as the current situation in the country is not stable, but we cannot just forget this day, which is quite important to all of us and do nothing”, - said the Press Secretary of the National Primacy of Aleppo, adding that notwithstanding the current critical situation in Syria, Armenians in any case make some actions, which deserve a high evaluation.

Zhirayr Reyisyan stated that the situation in Aleppo during the last two days was quiet. “During the previous two days it was calm in Aleppo, without any collisions. Before that there were several blows, but fortunately, they did not cause human losses”, - said the Press Secretary of the National Primacy of Aleppo. According to him, notwithstanding the calm situation of the last two days, the people are still very frightened and do not feel safe, as in these conditions any surprises could happen at any moment, causing irrevocable losses.

On April 24 it is the 98th anniversary of the remembrance of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide. On the international political level it will be clearer, what developments to expect from the capitals of the world before the 100th anniversary in the recognition and condemnation issues of the Armenian Genocide, which occurred in 1915 and to what results the Armenia’s policy might bring.

Küçük bir kısmının İstanbul’a dönmelerine izin verildi.

Bildiğimiz, can ve mal kayıplarından ibaret.

Üçüncüsü 1915’in ikameleri. Batıda Çanakkale, doğuda Sarıkamış soykırıma karşı 1915’in millî karşılıkları olarak epeyidir pazarlanıyor.
