The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) was established by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our role is to promote harmonious, productive and cooperative workplace relations and ensure compliance with Australian workplace laws.
We are seeking exceptional candidates for multiple non-ongoing roles (with a possibility of becoming ongoing in the future) in our Frontline Voice team, within the Advice, Support and Assistance Branch, in Melbourne.
The Frontline Voice Team plays a critical role within the agency by resolving incoming enquiries from the general public regarding workplace issues. We provide personalised and accurate advice and information to both employers and employees. We empower our customers by:


  • Promoting and helping customers navigate our suite of online self-help resources

  • Offering tailored assistance to those most in need of our services

  • Providing honest and forthright guidance on the best way/s to resolve workplace issues To be successful in this role, you will possess the ability to:

  • Communicate clearly, concisely and with influence with customers

  • Demonstrate dispute resolution skills including listening, questioning and building rapport

  • Demonstrate your experience to rapidly understand complex legislation and policies through analytical thinking, research and initiative

  • Work well as part of a team and act on feedback from your colleagues and managers

  • Use multiple systems simultaneously, be conversant with the Microsoft Office suite, have intermediate keyboard skills, able to calculate complex data and adjust to new technology easily

  • Respond and adapt to changing work demands while monitoring and maintaining your quality and productivity

Applicants engaged through this process will be employed to work full-time or part-time, flexibly between the hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Duties


Under broad policy control and direction, and with particular focus on the Tsunami Warning Service component of the Public Safety Program, provide scientific, technical and administration advice as well as general project support to the Manager of Tsunami Warning Services, including project management, documentation and reports, quality and performance management.
