Sent by a Senior Lieutenant from the German Raider "Kormoran" that sank HMAS Sydney II. This camp (actually a mansion house) only housed about 50 German officers & their batmen, so mail from here would be very scarce. 1710 Military - WWII Australian Forces North Borneo Beaufort Area: 1945 (19 Jul) "NSA" airmail cover to Australia showing very fine FPO 035 cds used by 2/24th Battalion which finalised operations in Tarakan 20th June & headed NW 200km to Beaufort. Proud records earliest use as 11th Aug & notes that from 17th July unstamped mail could only be sent by advance units. 1945 (17 Aug) cover franked KGVI 3d brown with bold but sl blurred 035 cds, mauve 854 censor. Proud rated 1500 pts. Rare. (2 covers). $200 $300

1711 Military Mail: Korean War 1950 (28 Oct) "On Active Service" cover addressed to Mrs Radnell, Alphington, VIC (mother of sender). TR in manuscript "No Stamps Available" with "Aust Unit Postal Stn 496/28 Oct 50" cds alongside in use in Korea at the time. The cover was sent by Ernest Randall who served with 3rd RAR (28 Sep 1950 to 12 Oct 1951) & was a WWII veteran who enlisted in K-Force & is a Kapyong veteran & is listed on the nominal rolls for this battle. A rare item, one of the few confirmed "On Active Service" covers we have seen ex Korea. This lot comes with further background info of this WWII/Korean War veteran. $100 $150
