2018 1911 QV 1d vermilion, watermark “crown / A”, irregular comb perf 10½ x 11½, being from a converted machine previously used for perforating railway stamps. VFU with part “Gympie / Queensland / 11 JY 11” cds (was lifted for examination from the piece it was used on & the piece is included in the lot). A very striking example well illustrating why only a very small number of sheets with this (failed) provisional perf experiment were issued. Extremely rare with only around 20 recorded.
