1.The concept of gastronomy

Gastronomy is the culture of eating and drinking. It comes to our language from French. But the origin of the word is based on Greece. Generally, when people think of gastronomy, the first thing that comes to mind is food. However, gastronomy is not just food. It is an artistic activity that includes the preparation of food and beverage types in the culinary culture, the presentation of the table layout, the visuality of the dishes and examining the relationship between them. In addition, it can be defined as the branch of science that studies food and beverages. Nowadays, with the increase in the use of the internet and with the help of television programs, it has become a concept that more or less people have knowledge of. And the interest in gastronomy has increased more. The meeting and becoming widespread of gastronomy with the public in Northern Cyprus was later than when compared to other countries. However, it is known and recognized by most people today. For example, 10 years ago, most people were unfamiliar with the word gastronomy, but today, when we ask a passerby the word gastronomy, she/he has information about it. We can call it the concept of gastronomy, including the beverage department, to cook food and drinks in a hygienic manner and to present the food in a nice way.
