PERSONAL VOCABULARY SKILLS AND TURKISH

Abstract
One of the basic problem in Turkish society emerges from educational system is the ‘one way-distorted communication.’
To have a proper communication , the parts should be in a equal vocabulary level has not been scientifically discussed in Turkey yet.
In the curriculum the number of word concept according to educational level is not determined. Because there is no clear objectives in educational programmes, the teaching staff does not make any effort in this way.
Some surveys illustrate that, with regard to the developed countries Turkish students’ vocabulary level is highly low. In this respect it is obvious that there are basic problems in Turkish language education at the schools.
In order to compensate this deficiency , firstly the objectives related to personal vocabulary should be determined. In the direction of the objectives some realistic projects should be introduced and the projects should be carried out by both universities and Ministery of National Education
In this paper , the studies related to student’s personal vocabulary are evaluated and some recommendations are presented by relating the educational programmes .
