Committee Reports

After-Prom

Christine Lane

  • After Prom 2016 is moving along wonderfully!

  • Theme this year is HIGHly RidicUlous with the U and HIGH highlighted in these words

  • Just about finished our fundraising events having secured about $7,100 so far.  Another State Farm Grant, another event, and registration income is yet to come in.

  • Starting this Friday, and running through next week, we will be hosting our last event.  Students, staff, faculty, and parents will vote for individuals to kiss a local pig.  We will also offer Bling-Wear at three Basketball games during this event.  Michelle Hardman has done a phenomenal job securing money for After Prom, and our families have been remarkably participative and generous.

  • As fast as Michelle can bring it in, the entertainment committee, led by Jane Rich has been finding ways to spend it to make this evening fun, exciting, and memorable.  Currently we have twelve activities and are working on a number of smaller activities.  The committee has allocated $5,095 so far.  We are currently looking for someone to build a make-shift Outhouse and will be looking for portable furniture for the "Chill Out" area, and possibly some ping-pong tables and Corn-Hole games in the coming months.  As the event nears, we will contact parents as needed, but if you know of anyone who may have these items, please contact Jane or me.  (We may also be looking for an EMT for the evening).

  • With the theme approved, the decorations committee led by Stephanie Walling and Shelleigh Birlingmair have gotten to work with some great ideas from Marcie Taylor.

  • Sue Spaulding has the food and beverage well planned for the evening and is working on the final touches and contracts.

  • And lastly, we are gearing up Acquisitions (gifts, prizes, gift-cards, and/or money) we will give the kids during After Prom.  Marcie Taylor is working on a request letter to U-High families.  ACTION: We don't have anyone (yet) to chair this sub-committee, so if you're interested, please let Christine know.  Last year, Michele Mathieson coordinated this, and has it all prepared and laid out for anyone to take over.

Chaperones

Michele Mathieson

  • Blacklight Dance was cancelled in January and rescheduled for Feb. 5, in the process of asking for donations for the Blacklight Dance.

  • Trying to find someone who will be there to run/organize it as Michele will be at IHSA State Cheer Competition.

  • Continuing to offer fundraising opportunities through dine to donate, working ISU concessions and various other fundraisers

  • Big news: U-High will receive a check from our partnership with Olive Garden for $1,000. That money is slated to go towards an ice machine for the training room. We continue to work with Olive Garden this spring when they host another event for us on April 12

  • Funds raised to date total around $11,000 for U-High organizations

Raffle

Christy Bazan

  • Need to order the incentive gift for 2016-2017 school year.

  • Jennifer Pinter and Christy selected a grocery tote in black with a white U on the front @ $3.75 each. Aligns with cost of seat cushion offered one year. Mugs given out the past two years were almost $10.00 each.

  • Grocery totes are easy to store and will be an exclusive gold rush raffle incentive item, not available through Boosters or other spirit wear orders.

  • To get the tote you need to purchase all five raffle tickets.

  • We have enough tickets on hand to cover the 2016-2017 year, so we are going to hold off in order these until fall. Need to work with printer on tickets and how they will print and manage them for us. In the past we have spent $325-410 on tickets to cover two academic years.

Fund Request

Gold Rush Raffle Committee requests $750 to purchase 200 U-High grocery totes. Select Screen Print will bill Boosters for this amount. Should be enough for two years of the raffle and may incent more people to buy all five tickets!

$3.75 per bag X 200 bags = $750.00 ( total cost)
