Establishment of access networks in 2 rural municipalities facilitated	The Department facilitated the establishment of access networks in rural municipalities. The feasibility study was conducted for the Fezile Dabi District Municipality while the available study for the Ingwe Local Municipality was revised with the latest introduction of a fibre optic cable being introduced by Neotel. uMsinga Local Municipality was identified as Minister’s flagship project and consultation with stakeholders commenced with the first phase of developing technical plans for infrastructure roll-out at uMsinga and Ingwe Local Municipalities. A low power broadcast network comprising 3 low-power broadcasting stations was established by Sentech.		X		Lack of capacity at Municipalities to implement.
Four sites have been completed this financial year, i.e. Wittlesea (EC), Keates Drift, Msinga Tops and Tugela Ferry (KZN). Field trip undertaken to parts of the Eastern Cape to verify coverage in underserved areas and to ascertain existing infrastructure in the Makana, Sunday River Valley, Nkonkobe, Inxuba Yethemba, Tsolwana and Gariep Local Municipalities. Field trip to Mpumalanga took place 20 – 24 June for some of the areas that have been reported as uncovered in the Thaba Chweu, Emakhazeni and Bushbuckridge Municipalities; which fall under the Ehlanzeni District Municipality.
