Cultural/Intercultural Understandings The understandings cover a selection of possible areas where students could reflect on Chinese culture and their own. It is not prescriptive but rather a guide for teachers to add or adapt.
Football and basketball are perhaps the most popular spectator sports in China, especially on TV. Lots of people enjoy taking part in table tennis, badminton and some form of martial arts.
It is not unusual for travellers to get upset stomachs at some stage of their journey. Staying very well hydrated and as comfortable as possible is important, but if things get bad a trip to ‘看医生 Kàn yīshēng’ (see [a] doctor) may be necessary. In normal day-to-day conversations, Chinese people often like talking about their health and may occasionally offer a little bit more detail than might be expected.
