Barem de notare:

1p oficiu

3,5p utilizarea corectă a tuturor metodelor studiate: tabele de adevăr, FNC şi FND, deducţia, tabele semantice, calculul secvenţelor şi rezoluţia cel puţin o dată pentru rezolvarea unei probleme.

3p rezolvarea corectă a 15 probleme alese din lista de mai jos (se vor mai adăuga sau traduce câteva probleme în timp)

2,5p compunerea sau culegerea şi rezolvarea a 10 probleme, dintre care 5 care se vor rezolva prin intermediul logicii propoziţionale, iar 5 prin cea predicativă.
Observaţie: dacă se identifică două teme identice 50% sau mai mult (problemele alese/compuse, cu aceleaşi soluţii), persoanele care au predat respectivele teme vor primi doar nota din oficiu pentru ea.
Marking criteria:

1p default

3p the correct application of all the studied methods: truth tables, CNF and DNF, deduction, semantic tableaux, sequent calculus, general resolution and at least three different resolutive strategies at least one time in the solution of a problem.

3p the correct solution of 15 problems chosen from the list below (it will be translated soon, and maybe some new problems will be added)

3p the solution of 10 problems composed or collected (except the ones from the list), from which 5 will be solved in propositional calculus and 5 using first order predicative logic.
Notice: if two homeworks are at least 50% identical (the chosen/collected problems are identical, and they have the same solutions), the persons involved will receive the default mark.


  1. La un moment dat, în procesul din Ţara minunilor, Alise a susţinut că iepurele şi pălărierul mint, dar şi iepurele şi pălărierul au susţinut faptul că ceilalţi doi mint. Este posibil ca toţi trei să aibă dreptate? (– problemă de identificare a modelelor)




  1. În istoria Marii Britanii, sistemul monarhic stipula faptul că primul băiat născut va deveni următorul rege, sau oricine l-a învins pe rege sau a uzurpat tronul regelui devine noul rege.

Astfel, între anii 1399-1413 rege a fost Henry al IV-lea.

Are sens cerinţa clientului sau este contradictorie?


  1. Iată că a venit iarna şi grierele nu are mâncare. Totuşi, ar putea să îşi rezolve problema dacă le ajută pe celelalte făpturi ale pădurii. Trebuie să aibă însă grijă ce şi cui să ceară, deoarece fiecare făptură îi va da greierului un singur lucru, altfel se supără şi îl va mânca pe greier.

  • Furnica e bucuroasă să-i dea greierului mâncare dacă primeşte paie.

  • Vulpea schimbă peşte pe mure şi mure pe larve.

Problema 9.4.2. [25]

La o întreprindere există trei secţii: A, B, C care au făcut următoarea convenţie privind aprobarea proiectelor:

a. Dacă A nu participă la aprobarea unui proiect, atunci nu participă nici B;

b. Dacă A participă, atunci participă atât B cât şi C.

Aflaţi dacă această convenţie obligă sau nu secţia C să participe la orice proiect la care participă şi secţia B.

    La un tribunal, doi martori au afirmat „a”, respectiv „b”. Referindu-se la aceste afirmaţii, procurorul a declarat „x”. În încheiere preşedintele spune: „Dacă atât procurorul cât şi primul martor are dreptate, atunci al doilea martor nu are dreptate”

Aşadar, procurorul are dreptate sau martorii au dreptate?”

Precizaţi în ce caz este eronat raţionamentul preşedintelui.


Problema 9.4.4. [26]

    Se dau premisele:

a. Niciun om care merge la o recepţie nu uită să-şi pieptene părul.

b. Nimeni nu este prezentabil dacă este neglijent.

c. Fumătorii de opium nu sunt stăpâni pe sine.

d. Toţi cei care-şi piaptănă părul sunt prezentabili.

e. Nu se poartă mănuşi albe dacă nu se merge la o recepţie.

f. Un om este întotdeauna neglijent dacă nu este stăpân pe sine.

Să se deducă din premisele de mai sus că: „Fumătorii de opium nu poartă mănuşi albe”. Ce alte concluzii se mai pot obţine?
Problema 9.4.5. [19]


    Trei doamne: a, b, c, cu feţete mânjite, stau într-un compartiment de tren şi toate trei râd. Deodată a are o licărire: „Dumnezeule! Probabil că şi eu am ceva ridicol.” Poate oare a să se convingă că are motiv să se alarmeze?


Problema 9.4.6. [38]

    Pe trei borcane de compot, unul cu cireşe, altul cu vişine, iar al treilea cu cireşe şi vişine, toate etichetele au fost puse greşit. Scoţând un fruct dintr-un singur borcan, să se precizeze conţinutul fiecăruia.


Problema 9.4.7. [26]

Se consideră mulţimea de premise:

a) Niciun mamifer înaripat nu are pene.

b) Toate animalele cu pene au aripi.

c) Toate bipedele sunt fie păsări, fie mamifere, dar nu sunt şi una şi alta.

Deduceţi de aici că:



    Toate bipedele cu pene sunt păsări.


Problema 9.4.8. [25]

Sculptorul Albu, violonistul Negrea şi pictorul Roşcău sunt prieteni.

- Este interesant că unul din voi are păr cărunt, altul roşcat iar eu negru, dar la niciunul culoarea părului nu corespunde cu numele – observă unul din ei.

- Ai dreptate, răspunde Albu.

Ce culoare avea părul fiecăruia?




Problema 9.4.9. [31]

Cunoscutul explorator I. St. Ţul înaintând anevoie în jungla nepătrunsă urma cursul năvalnic al unui afluent necunoscut al fluviului Ucazali. Se aştepta ca, din clipă în clipă, să se întâlnească cu indienii triburilor Capaxoih ori Hioxapac, care trăiau în bună vecinătate prin preajma râului. Ce ştia, în definitiv, curajosul explorator despre cele două triburi? Nu ştia nimic. Cunoştea doar că capaxoihii erau mândri de obârşia lor, se lăudau că fac parte din acest trib, iar orice vorbă ieşită din gura lor era adevărul adevărat. În schimb, hioxapacii minţeau de îngheţau apele. Orice cuvânt al lor era minciună.

Socotind că l-a chestionat îndeajuns pe cel de-al doilea indian, exploratorul se adresează celui de-al treilea:

- Mă pot încrede în cele spuse de-al doilea indian?

- Nu! Zise scurt cel de-al treilea indian.

I. St. Ţul nu mai întrebă nimic, socotind că scurta discuţie cu cei trei indieni îi este suficientă pentru a şti din ce trib face parte fiecare dintre ei.

Cum a raţionat exploratorul?


Problema 9.4.11. [26]

Condiţiile de înmânare a unei poliţe de asigurare precizează că această poliţă nu poate fi subscrisă decât de persoanele care îndeplinesc una din condiţiile:

- Să fi subscris la poliţa 19 şi să fie bărbat căsătorit.

- Să fi subscris la poliţa 19 şi să fie persoană căsătorită cu vârsta sub 25 ani.

- Să nu fi subscris la poliţa 19 şi să fie femeie căsătorită.

- Să fie bărbat sub 25 ani.

- Să fie persoană căsătorită cu vârsta peste 25 ani.

Exprimaţi cât mai concis ansamblul condiţiilor de mai sus.

  6. Someone who hates something owned by another person will not date that person.

  7. (Conclusion) If Mary does not own a grocery store, she will not date John.

4. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion:

  1. Every Austinite who is not conservative loves some armadillo.

  2. Anyone who wears maroon-and-white shirts is an Aggie.

  3. Every Aggie loves every dog.

  4. Nobody who loves every dog loves any armadillo.

  5. Clem is an Austinite, and Clem wears maroon-and-white shirts.

  6. (Conclusion) Is there a conservative Austinite?

  4. Anyone who goes to Sixth Street does not study.

  5. (Conclusion) If every roommate of every CS major likes to party, then every student who is a CS major and makes good grades is brilliant.

17. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion:

  1. Everyone who aces any final exam studies or is brilliant or is lucky.

  2. Everyone who makes an A aces some final exam.

  3. No CS major is lucky.

  4. Anyone who drinks beer does not study.

  5. (Conclusion) If every CS major makes an A, then every CS major who drinks beer is brilliant.

18. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion:

  1. Anyone who loves any lottery is a gambler.

  2. Everyone who favors the lottery proposition loves some lottery.

  3. Everyone favors the lottery proposition or opposes the lottery proposition.

  4. If every Baptist votes and opposes the lottery proposition, then the lottery proposition does not win.

  5. Every Baptist who is faithful is not a gambler.

  6. (Conclusion) If every Baptist votes and the lottery proposition wins, then some Baptist is not faithful.

19. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion. Hint: the predicates WHITE, SNOWY, HAPPY, and GETS should each have a ``time'' argument.

  1. Anyone who owns any sled is happy when it is snowy.

  2. When it is white, it is snowy.

  3. If Santa is happy at Christmas, then every child who is good gets some toy at Christmas.

  4. Any child who gets a toy at any time is happy at that time.

  5. Santa owns a sled.

20. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion.

  1. Anyone who is on Sixth Street and is not a police officer has some costume.

  2. No CS student is a police officer.

  3. Every costume that is good is a robot costume.

  4. For anyone, if they are on Sixth Street and are happy, then every costume they have is good or they are drunk.

  5. (Conclusion) If no CS student is drunk and every CS student on Sixth Street is happy, then every CS student on Sixth Street has some costume that is a robot costume.

21. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion.

  1. For every mall, there is some Santa who is at the mall.

  2. Every child who visits anywhere talks with every Santa who is at the place visited. [Don't make a predicate for ``the place visited''; it should just be a variable.]

  3. Every child who is a city child visits some mall.

  4. Every child who is good or who talks with some Santa gets some toy.

  5. (Conclusion) If every child who is not a city child is good, then every child gets some toy.

22. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion.

  1. Everyone who feels warm either is drunk, or every costume they have is warm.

  2. Every costume that is warm is furry.

  3. Every AI student is a CS student.

  4. Every AI student has some robot costume.

  5. No robot costume is furry.

  6. (Conclusion) If every CS student feels warm, then every AI student is drunk.

23. Consider the following axioms and check the validity of the conclusion.

  1. Every bird sleeps in some tree.

  2. Every loon is a bird, and every loon is aquatic.

  3. Every tree in which any aquatic bird sleeps is beside some lake.

  4. Anything that sleeps in anything that is beside any lake eats fish.

  5. (Conclusion) Every loon eats fish.

24. Check the validity of the conclusion:

Wolves, foxes, birds, caterpillars, and snails are animals, and there are some of each of them. Also there are some grains, and grains are plants. Every animal either likes to eat all plants or all animals much smaller than itself that like to eat some plants. Caterpillars and snails are much smaller than birds, which are much smaller than foxes, which in turn are much smaller than wolves. Wolves do not like to eat foxes or grains, while birds like to eat caterpillars but not snails. Caterpillars and snails like to eat some plants. Therefore there is an animal that likes to eat a grain-eating animal.
