Al A'raf mosque groundbreaking by UB's Rector
Al A'raf mosque located on Faculty of Animal Husbandry University of Brawijaya (Fapet UB) area will become a centre of religious activities, not only for Faculty of Animal Husbandry academic community but also from various surrounding faculties, such as Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering. The religious activities are including prayers in congregation. Jum'ah prayer, religious studies, students' character building, Islamic great day commemoration, Tarawih prayer and break the fast together on Ramadhan.
Recently along with the increasing numbers of UB communities and frequency of religious activities at Al A'raf mosque, increasing numbers of pilgrims who worship. Meanwhile its capacity is limited even always over capacity when Jum'ah prayer is conducted. Based on the result of meetings held by the board of the mosque and principals of the faculty, defined to build a mosque which was originally one floor with an area of 8x8 m2 to become two floors ((15x21,5 m2).
The construction of the mosque was hand-in-hand with lecturers of Civil Engineering Department of University of Brawijaya as construction technical team and planning consultant, such as Ir. Sugeng P. Budio, MS; Ananda Insan F., ST., M.Sc and Bhondana Bayu B., ST., MT. According to Sugeng, the construction needs funds amounted 4 billion rupiahs.
Friday (15/Jul/2016), already implemented a groundbreaking by Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Bisri, MS as UB's Rector and Dean of Faculty of Animal Husbandry Prof. Dr.Sc.Agr. Ir. Suyadi, MS, and witnessed by all of Faculty of Animal Husbandry academicians. On the occasion, the Rector presented his expectation in related with the construction to be able to improve roles, functions and benefits of mosque as religious activities centre, either in form of quality of quantity of the event.
