By Senator Campbell,
S.C.R. 32. Senate concurrent resolution congratulating the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on winning magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Whereas, the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, is a primary care facility for the Upper Connecticut Valley and for much of northern New England, and
Whereas, DHMC plays important employment and health care roles in the lives of Vermonters, as 39 percent of the staff reside in Vermont, and 41 percent of the patients are from this state, and
Whereas, the caliber of nursing services a hospital provides is a key component in assessing the overall quality of the health care it offers to patients, and
Whereas, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA), awards magnet status to selected medical centers which document their adherence to ANA standards and practices that attract and retain nurses, and
Whereas, the ANCC has recently awarded magnet status to DHMC in recognition of meeting the criteria for receiving this special and coveted designation, and
Whereas, the staff at DHMC is proud that the hospital is only the second medical center in either Vermont or New Hampshire to earn this award,
now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on winning magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Nancy Formella, Senior Nurse Executive at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
