Objectives

Workpackage WP9 defines and compiles the technical content of the VI for the field of non-contact thermometry. For this field, the VI will provide access to compilations of:

  • European equipment suppliers and service providers

  • European calibration and testing facilities

  • European universities and research institutions with active interest in the field

  • Available best practice guides and written standards as well as information on standards in the process of development

  • Legal metrology requirements and regulations (e.g., for clinical infrared ear thermometers or waste incinerators)

  • Topics of interest and an overview of relevant research projects, together with topics where future work is required.

In addition, a structured, searchable bibliography (and, as far as possible, a corresponding online library) of recommended "standard literature" and of recent publications will be compiled.

The reviewed, approved data will be input to the EVITherM level 1 and 2 databases, as appropriate.

Description obf Work Tasks

Task 9.0 Determine the form and the content of the VI, reconcile it with the VI Members and review it with interested parties especially in industry; co-ordinate interrelation with other WPs, where necessary

Task 9.1 Compile a list of links to European equipment suppliers and service providers

Task 9.2 Compile a list of European calibration and testing facilities (in particular, NMIs and

accredited calibration laboratories)

Task 9.3 Compile a list of European universities and research institutions with active interest in the field

Task 9.4 Compile a list of available best practice guides and written standards

Task 9.5 Identify those application areas with special legal metrology requirements and compile a list of relevant regulations

Task 9.6 Compile a review of topics of interest and an overview of RTD projects plus an overview of where future work is required

Task 9.7 Compile a list of recommended "standard literature" and of recent publications; if possible, obtain copies suitable for inclusion in a VI online library or at least links to abstracts at authors' or publishers' web sites

Deliverables

D9.0 Summary report defining the proposed form and the content of the VI as regards non-contact thermometry – month 9

D9.1 to D9.7 Sets of data compiled in tasks 9.1 to 9.7 for review on pre-release EVITherM web site – months* 12 - 30

D9.8 Approved compiled data reviewed for phased insertion into the live EVITherM web site – months* 12 - 30

Milestones and criteria

M9.0 Delivery to WP1 of draft report defining the form and the content of the EVITherM database as regards non-contact thermometry - month 9

M9.1 Sets of data compiled in tasks 9.1 to 9.7 for review on pre-release EVITherM web site - months* 12 - 30

M9.2 Phased completion of approved inputs to EVITherM live website - months* 12 - 30

* Note. A plan defining the target dates for phasing information generated within this WP into the EVITherM website will be developed by the steering committee in WP1 during the first 6 months of the project

Interrelation with other workpackages

WP9 depends on WP1 (general definition, review and harmonisation of technical content) and interacts with WP2 and WP3 as necessary in order that the needs of industry are addressed. WP9 will also be developed in conjunction with the other scientific workpackages to ensure that interrelated technical issues are adequately covered and appropriate links between corresponding themes are incorporated in the EVITHerM web site.
