AIRCRAFT HEIGHT RISK ANALYSIS
This section seeks to estimate the probability of an aircraft flying below the minimum height
thresholds established by the FAA. The first parts of this section discuss these thresholds and
their physical considerations in establishing them while the final part of this section uses the
aforementioned assumption of Normally distributed data to make a conservative estimate of the
probability of an aircraft flying below the specified threshold. The actual risk of a collision
between two aircraft occurring is smaller because this risk analysis does not consider the
probability of an aircraft being present on the PT in the flight path. This risk analysis can be
used to evaluate current policy and determine the need for future research.
