2MPEG-4 Part 16: AFX

The market penetration of this standard for compression and streaming of synthetic contents including meshes is not satisfactory. No alternative coding or streaming tool outperforms this AFX technology. MPEG should consider a RF profile, promote open source implementations and interact with other organizations in order to promote AFX.

3MPEG-7 Part 9: AVDP

Several broadcasters requested a new profile for MPEG-7 covering several aspects of Audio, Video and Systems. The main functionality of this audiovisual description profile (AVDP) is describing the results of automatic media analysis with audio/video low-level features for audio-visual content. They are to be used for the archives of the broadcast industry.
The group created N12619 Text of ISO/IEC TR 15938-11:2005/DAM1 Audiovisual description profile (AVDP) schema and N12620 DoC of ISO/IEC TR 15938-11:2005/PDAM1 Audiovisual description profile (AVDP) schema in response to a National Body Comment that identified a mistake in the specification. The software is now extended such that an AVDP XML file can be created using the tools of the MPEG-7 XM (Figure 1).
