Like water of a duck’s back — как с гуся вода(partial) — parvoyiga keltirmaydi; surbet, beg‘am (absence of conformity).
Absence of conformities. There are no phraseological conformities of many English phraseological units in Uzbek and Russian. Therefore, there are three types of translation which are utilized to render units of this kind into Uzbek and Russian. They are as follows:
A verbatim (word for word) translation.
Translation by analogy.
Descriptive translation.
A verbatim translation is possible when the way of considering in the phraseological units does not bear a particular national feature. White crow — oq qarg‘a -- белая ворона. Beef tea — go‘shtli bulon sho‘rva -- мясной бульон. Puss in boots — etik kiygan mushuk - кот в сапогах.
Translation by analogy. In this way of translating an idiom is resorted to when the image of Phraseological Units is diverse but the meaning is similar and when Phraseological Units in the target language has a particular national realiea. It ought to be translated by a Phraseological Units that include a word of national coloring in the Target language. Albatross around one‘s neck — bo`yniga bo`yntiriq ilmoq -- камень на шее. A snake in the grass — makkor, yashirin, pinhoniy dushman -- коварный, скрытый враг. When pigs fly — qizil qor yoqqanda -- когда рак свистнет.
Descriptive translation is a way of translation by free combinations of words. It is possible when a Phraseological Units has a specific national feature and does not have analogue in the language it is translated into. Cock and bull story — небылица — uydirma, to‘qima cho‘pchak. While elephant — обременительное или разорительное имущество, обуза; подарок, от которого не знаем, как избавиться — malol keladigan sovg‘a. Calf’s teeth — молочные зубы — sut tishlar; burn the candle at both ends - kuchini bekorga sarflamoq, kuch berib ishlamoq- yog‘oshning bo‘shini qurt yer; daraxtning mo‘rtini qurt yer; if you comply with carry the calf they’ll cause you to to hold the cow such carpenters, such chips - mol egasiga o‘xshamasa, harom o‘ladi; care killed the cat - ish qaritmaydi, balki g‘am qaritadi, no bees, no honey, no work, no money – mashaqqatsiz baxt kelmas, mehnatsiz taxt;many hands make light work – ko‘pdan quyon qochib kutilmas;out of labor - ishsiz, bekor;a bad workman quarrels along with his tools -yomon kosib bigiz tanlar;get/go/set to figure (on smth) – ishga kirishmoq; “work”, selected from phraseological dictionaries of Uzbek and English.
We analyzed variety of idioms of the Uzbek and English with the specific meaning.
In this work, we consider idioms as nominative unit of both languages associated components, the character of the connecting words, using the tactic of similarities.
