A gun battle erupts between a US patrol and insurgents. 3 US soldiers wounded and 3 militants killed according to Col. Hilferty at Bagram propaganda center. The US patrol later makes contact with insurgents, calls-in AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters and further fighting takes place.

At 8 AM GMT, a first small bomb explodes, followed by a much larger one hidden in an apple cart on a crowded street near an Afghan military barracks, creating devastation, killing at least 13 and injuring about 50. A suspect caught. A day later, Taliban officially apologize for the blast that killed 16, saying the intended target was the recently established US PRT unit. On Thurs., police arrested 6 people for the bomb blast.

Pak army camp attacked with rockets on Thurs. Night, killing 4 and injuring 3-7 soldiers. Attack followed a search and raiding party by the Pak troops earlier that day in Kalusha, a village 12 kms. west of Wana , which destroyed homes. Tribal leaders later accused Pak. Regime of brutality, including shooting at civilians and children (see Ahmad A. Khan).
