RESEARCH DIRECTION

I have been involved I the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds with potential pharmaceutical importance. This involves the incorporation of iminium salts in these syntheses along with utilization of Organometalic compounds like organolithium in metalation of compounds with directing groups.

Some of my work has been on the exploration of new synthetic methodologies.

My research experience has been acquired from:

  In France with Professors Guy Quequiner and Francis Marsais at Institute National Des Science Appliqués, Rouen, France. 1988-1989

  With Professor Victor Snieckus group at Guelph-Waterloo Centre For Graduate Work in Chemistry (GWC²) University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. (1993 –1994)
  
• 
  In England, with Professor A. Mckillop’s group at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England. 1997
  
• 
  I have also worked with Professor Perry Kaye, at the Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa. (1997, 2006)
  
• 
  In July to December 1999, 2003, 2007 I worked with Prof. V. Snieckus (Alfred Bader Chair in Synthetic Chemistry) at the Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
