Determınatıon of P-Wave Characterıstıcs for the Marmara Regıon
to be Used In Early Warnıng Algorıthms When Kocaeli (Mw 7.5) and Duzce (Mw 7.2) earthquakes occurred in the Marmara Region in 1999, the entire Marmara region had been affected. For this reason, Marmara region will have to be prepared with the all of reality. When damaging earthquake occur in Istanbul, for preparing quick lost map and help to rescue teams, Early warning and rapid response network established in Marmara Region.
The foundation of earthquake early warning system is based on estimated magnitude of earthquake, fast and reliable. Determining of rupture's continuity is necessary in order to calculate the magnitude of the earthquake. This is usually understood from the characteristics of initial movement (P waves). This purpose in the thesis, it was tried to determine the characteristics of the P wave for Marmara Region. For this purpose, we used two different methods which are c -Pd and B-Delta by using vertical component of the acceleration records in Marmara region. Finally, a new relationship was developed in the region for obtain of threshold earthquake early warning alarm.
