| Use of Bootstrap Resampling Method in X-R Process Control Charts
Bootstrap resample method is used in some studies such as regression analysis, time series analysis and confidence intervals areas. The question of what kind of results the bootstrap method turn out, in statistical process control area, except aforementioned application areas, forms a basis for this study.
First step of the application of quality control chart is to create a sample from production outputs. Obtaining a sample from historical data of process is the basis of control charts. The aim of this study is to compare the classical quality control chart and the quality control chart, which is formed by using bootstrap resampling method. At the end of the study, the results of the applying of the bootstrap method in a different area is analyzed.
The study consists of three parts in general. In the first part, statistical process control and -R control chart, which is a statistical process control tool, are discussed. The second part of the study contains the information about bootstrap resampling method and then explains the points under the implementation of the method. In the third part, the bootstrap method is applied for the -R control chart, and then the results of the classical -R control charts and bootstrap -R control charts are compared. These results are evaluated with the general control charts, in the last section.
