Excluding WA TAC applicants, the number of Year 12 applicants receiving offers decreased by 2.0% in 2016. Year 12 applicants receiving offers increased in the following states and territories: WA (49.4%), NSW (4.8%), Queensland (2.3%) and SA (0.3%). All other states and territories recorded negative growth in applicants receiving offers. Victoria recorded the largest decrease in the number of Year 12 applicants receiving offers (-15.6%) with Tasmania and the ACT both recording the smallest decrease (-2.4%).

Excluding WA TAC applicants, offers to non-Year 12 applicants receiving offers increased by 2.7% in 2016. Victoria recorded the largest increase (12.9%), followed by NT (4.7%). On the other hand, WA recorded the largest decrease (-9.0%), followed by Tasmania (-2.5%).

Nationally Year 12 applicants were more likely to receive an offer than non-Year 12 applicants. In 2016, the Year 12 offer rate was 86.7% compared with the non-Year 12 offer rate of 81.6%. In 2016, Year 12 offer rates were higher than the non-Year 12 offer rates in all states and territories except Victoria and WA.
