Job summary:
The Portuguese National Institute of Health (INSA) has a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in the field of Molecular Cell Biology. The position is funded through the Portuguese government initiative for research jobs, Ciência 2007. A contract of 5 years is offered, with a yearly salary of approximately 42 000 €/year. Candidates need to have a PhD since approximately 3 years, and will be selected based on their relevant postdoctoral experience, publication record, motivation and, for short listed applicants, interview performance (only for short-listed applicants). Job description:
The research will focus on cellular signalling pathways and the regulation of membrane protein traffic. Special emphasis will be put on the role of small GTPases in signalling to the actin cytoskeleton and the corresponding effect on endo- or exocytosis of membrane proteins and/or on vesicle traffic. The selected researcher will reinforce the interface between two established research lines from the Oncobiology and Cystic Fibrosis research units at the Centre for Human Genetics. This is an INSA centre specifically devoted to the integration of genetic diagnostic services and basic research on the molecular pathogenesis of genetic diseases through the functional characterisation of genetic alterations at the molecular, cellular and physiological level.


Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold a PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular or Cellular Biology or Biochemistry) and have postdoctoral research experience of approximately three years in the fields of signalling pathways and/or membrane protein traffic. Additionally, applicants should be highly proficient in English language (reading, writing, comprehension and conversation).
