An investigation of the relationship between diabetes and chromosome damage in human peripheral blood lymphocytes
Birth, growth, maturing, aging and death are the main features of living things. Among them aging is a natural process like the others. In this natural process some metabolic changes are seen and the risk of certain diseases also increases with increasing age. One of these diseases is diabetes mellitus. This thesis work, was done with thirty patients group diagnosed as type 2 diabetes mellitus and thirty healthy individuals at the same age group. In culture that in made with peripheral blood which getting from healthy and patients individuals, chromosome aberrations that were scored by the formation of micronucleus and proliferative indeks of lymphocytes, were investigated by the MN technique.
As a result, the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus has proved the applicability of the MN technique.
