Queries whose name begins with jpd. Primary contact is Courtney Workman workmacd@jmu.edu Section last updated 3/6/2014.
The query named jpd01 was created for the JMU public safety office dispatchers to allow them to locate students. The query contains 21 prompts. The first prompt is the term and is required. The second prompt is the housing period and is also required. The value entered in the housing period prompt must be the 4 digits representing the most recent Fall term followed by the two capital letters AY. For Fall 2014 this value would be 1148AY. The housing period for Spring and Summer are the same as the most recent Fall term. The housing period value is used to return on-campus housing information. The remaining 19 prompts are all optional. If a prompt is left blank, it is not used in the search. IF a value is entered, the entire value MUST be present in the respective field. The query uses what is known as an “in string” operator for each of these 19 prompts. ALL search values MUST be entered in lowercase, NEVER enter a search value using uppercase letters. When performing a search, enter only as many characters or digits as you are POSITIVE must exist in the corresponding field. For example, if you are unsure if the student’s last name is spelled “arbogast” or “arboghast” it would be better to enter the characters “arbog” in the name prompt. Most phone numbers are in the format: ###/###-#### but are self reported and may be in a different format. The jpd02 version (historical safety report) returns similar data, but for all students whose program status <> AC (no longer active). Use this query when searching for students who are no longer active.
Pre-professional Health
Queries whose name begins with jpph. Primary contact is Barbara Morris morri3ba@jmu.edu Section last updated 1/7/2016.
IF a query does not prompt for an academic plan number, it probably means it has the nine PPH plan numbers (see below) hard coded. ('0000030600','0000030700','0000031200','0000031500','0000031800','0000032100','0000032400','0000032700','0000033300')
-
jpph001 (NTS): Preprof health taken a course. Prompts for a term and a course (such as MATH220). Returns a list of students who were active in one of the PPH plans as of the end of the prompted for term. The course taken does not distinguish WHEN it was taken, only that it were taken @ JMU (not transferred or test credit) and includes the term it was taken.
-
jpph001a (TS): PPH NEVER taken a course. Prompts for a term and a course (such as MATH220). Returns a list of students who ARE active in one of the PPH plans. Does not return Freshman. The query returns aggregate data based upon the plans the student is active in. The rows which begin with the words: Total count. Indicate the total population for the respective academic level for all PPH students. If the student has never taken (nor transferred) the prompted for course, they are included in the count. The bio/bio tech counts look at students in the two plans 1600 or 1700.
-
jpph001b (TS). Same results as those returned in jpph001a, except it returns student detail data vs. aggregate data.
-
Jpph002 (NTS): Percentage UG in pph. Prompts for a term. Returns one row of data which allows you to calculate the percentage of UG students active in their programs at the end of the term who were PPH students vs. those who were not. Ignores Freshman.
-

-
jpph003 (TS) Preprof health students. Prompts for a term. Returns academic data for all PPH students who are currently active. Ignores Freshman.
-
jpph003a (NTS). Similar to jpph003, but can be run for any term ever vs. jpph003 which will only return students active today. Still ignores Freshman.
-
jpph004 (TS) Preprof health students ALL. Only difference from jpph003 is this version includes Freshman.
-
jpph004c (TS) PPH students in specific plans. Starts with all PPH students, then narrows the list to those also in one of four academic plans. Can be used to find PPH students who are also accounting (0000000100) majors.
-
Jpph004d (TS): PPH students graduating. Prompts for a term, returns all PPH students who have applied to graduate greater than or equal to the prompted term.
-
jpph005 (NTS): Course analysis for PPH. Prompts for a term range and a single course. Returns aggregate data for five different populations (numbered 1-5) of PPH students who took the course (at JMU, not transfer or test scores) for the given term.
-
1 Total population in COURSE. Is a count of all students for the given course regardless of their academic data
-
2 Biology/Biotechnology majors in COURSE. The number of students in plan numbers 1600 or 1700 who were enrolled in the course.
-
3 PPH students in COURSE. The number of students in any of the nine PPH plans who were enrolled in the course.
-
4 PPH also bio/biotech majors in COURSE. The number of students in any of the nine PPH plans who were also in either of the plans 1600/1700 and enrolled in the course.
-
5 PPH students NOT bio/biotech majors in COURSE. The number of students in any of the nine PPH plans who were also NOT in either of the plans 1600/1700 and enrolled in the course.
-
jpph006 (TS) PPH eligible for AED. Prompts for a term, returns all students active in a PPH plan who have been completed 3 or more semesters @ JMU.
-
jpph007 (TS) prompts for a term. Returns students active in one of the nine PPH plans who also:
-
are not in one of the following plans: ('0000001600','0000053300','0000053800','0000001700')
-
are not active in a student group whose number is 2045
-
never taken BIO114 @ JMU
-
never transferred BIO114
-
jpph008 (TS) Calc GPA by subj and plan. Very complicated and potentially confusing query. Returns all PPH students active in one of the nine plans, who have taken any course with the following subjects for the career @ JMU: ('BIO','CHEM','PHYS','MATH'). The grades from these course form the basis for calculating their BCPM GPA. The query allows you to select those students who have a specific BCPM GPA range in addition to a cumulative GPA range. Note, if a PPH student has never taken any of the courses in the given subjects, they cannot be returned by the query because there will be no basis for a BCPM calculated GPA.
-
jpph008a (TS) Transfer units by GPA. Returns any student active in a PPH plan if the ever transferred any course whose subject =BIO, CHEM, PHYS or MATH. Allows a Cumulative GPA range to be used for selection, returns the total number of courses and hours.
-
Jpph008b (TS): Calc GPA NON PPH students. Returns students whoare NOT a PPH student so they can determine what their calculated GPA would be IF they wanted to be a PPH major.
-
Jpph009 (TS) Senior premed physics data. Returns active seniors in the academic plan 31200 and whether they have taken (or transferred) specific courses. The query uses a series of letters to indicate if they:
-
Are enrolled in the course for the current term (E)
-
Have never taken the course (N)
-
Passed the course in a previous term (P)
-
Failed the course in a previous term (F)
-
Not sure what is going on with the course (*). Seriously, the above calcs count on specific numeric values to indicate the letter. When a student does something really strange (pass the course one term, fails it twice, and is enrolled again) the logic is too much for the query, so it simply places an asterisk in the column for the given course.
-
Jpph010 (NTS) Preprof health count terms. Prompts for an academic plan number (leave this prompt blank to run for all nine PPH plan numbers) and a term. The query looks for students who have declared PPH as a plan, and the total number of terms since they declared.
-

-
Jpph013 (TS): Although there is a series of queries for the JMU preparation plan students (JPPH), user requested a series be cloned according to specs below. This user will run the queries for the part time pre-PT advisor Louise Gilchrist who works with the seniors who have begun applying to PT grad schools. This data is needed to allow her to properly advise these students thru the application process. She will be manually reconciling the data from the central PT application system herself. Baseline population is all senior pre-PT students acad_plan=0000032400 active in their acad_prog.
-
