Abstract
There is not an exact information dealing with the establishment of these theater performances known as the folk performances, square performances, middle performance in Turkish folklore and denoting the function of entertain, teaching, bringing up with ritual essence. But it is known that, Shabih performances are spread more than XV-XVI centuries. In any case, in a mythological time the performances- the part of ritual fulfill the duty of passing the saint-mythological information in a lively form to the audience. As a result of Turks spreading to a large geography and connecting with various cultures these performances have changed to a theater shows with shadow, ceremony, festival nature. Square performances in reality using stage, curtain, décor a little or without these are also written in standard form, without text, with many actors, an instrumental, traditional Turkic folk theater.
In the article the religious-mystic sides of Shabih, its role in establishing of tragedy genre in written literature is identified, the role of oral and written Kerbala texts in establishing of this square performance is proved. On the other hand, when the Shabih is performed the stage decoration, actor training, the popularity of performance are especially emphasized.
