In view of the objectives to facilitate quality teaching and research, produce socially-concerned citizens, and promote research with an interdisciplinary orientation following measures have been taken:



    1. Besides basic courses of the discipline like Political theory, philosophy, Indian Politics, Comparative Politics and International Politics, courses with interdisciplinary orientation like Political Economy, Human Rights, Political Sociology and Peace and Conflict Studies have also been introduced in the M.A curriculum. A course like Human Rights has also been opted by students from other departments like Sociology.

    2. The course content is constantly updated in view of emerging theoretical trends in the discipline. New books and articles published in different areas of the discipline are continuously added to the reading list and circulated amongst the students to update their knowledge in diverse areas.

    3. Other than traditional modes of teaching, lectures are also delivered through innovative means like power-point presentations

    4. Research scholars are encouraged to undertake action-oriented research in diverse areas of the political science ranging from electoral and party politics to politics of development and governance and international relations. They are required to conduct field surveys in their respective fields so that they understand the ground realities in a much better manner.

    5. The course on research methodology familiarizes the students and research scholars with new and innovative tools and techniques and provides qualitative training to combine theoretical traditions with empirical research.

    6. Learning outcomes are consistently monitored through class presentations, written tests, and group discussions.




  1. Highlight the participation of students and faculty in extension activities. Students and faculties have actively participated in the plantation drive of the university campus and organization of North Zone Youth Festival hosted by the University in November 2013; faculties served as hostel warden, director of Hindi Cell of the University and guest house In-charge.

  2. The Department has undertaken a major research project on Educational Status of Scheduled Castes in Uttar Pradesh. The projects has helped to generate new knowledge related to marginalized communities in addition to fulfilling one of the basic mandates of the university which is to cater to the needs to SC/ST/minority communities
