Becoming protagonists of "tannery life"

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
The activities that the participants will carry out together or in small groups are aimed at introducing and acquiring knowledge on the reality of the leather district, the phases of its development, the relationship between environment and territory and how tradition and innovation coexist. Participants will be able to experience daily working tasks, becoming protagonists of “tannery life and work” and use traditional techniques and tools for the creation of small handicraft accessories. For their realization various types of finished scraps and remnant leather will be used.

Creative laboratories, guided visits, meetings with experts and teachers, hand-work, comparison and exchange of information on the productive activities of their own territory are on the programme. The production of video podcast tutorial will enhance participants’ basic skills on ICT.

San Miniato town hall will provide rooms/space for meetings and conferences, and the large hall “Sala del Bastione” for the creative laboratories, equipped of all necessary tools and reachable on foot.

Participants will stay in the historical centre of San Miniato. Space for thematic and informal meetings, computers workstations with internet access for the realization of podcast, videos and blog updating are available. (www.hotelsanminiato.com)

The conference centre that is housed in a wonderful 16th century church, supplied with modern technologies is also at full disposal.

Adults wanting to participate in active experiences designed to improve their knowledge and skills about the songs of the important traditional Tuscan and Florentine compared with aspects of the grand tradition of Neapolitan songs. Upon completion of the course also Tuscan folk dances (as trescone) and Neapolitan (as the Tarantella).

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Raise awareness of the relationship between word and music, storing texts and their musical performance. "Florentine and Neapolitan Popular and traditional Songs " will analyze the following aspects: characteristics and study of texts and comparison between Florence and Naples. harmonization of the songs, peculiarity of the voice. Each region has a typical use of voice and especially rhythm. The selections cover not only the popular songs, also song writing with this subject and represent a very interesting and little known. "Folk Dances Florentine, italian" folk dancing in general and specific regional dances. Salterello, Tarantella, trescone, quadrille. Historical context, tied closely to the music, the dances are the natural complement, the appearance of popular and aristocratic place. Recall that in general in Italy thanks to the climate a lot of activities take place outdoors and this has encouraged the development of folkdance in general.

Migrants and Roma Inclusion

Adults active in volunteer organizations from new EU Member States: Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and also from Turkey, wishing to improve their skills for initiating projects for social inclusion. Priority will be given to Roma, people discriminated for their ethnical origins; people from disadvantaged areas from a geographical or economic point of view.
Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Ethnic minorities, and in particular Roma people, continue to face social exclusion and discrimination throughout Europe especially in education, housing and social welfare. Civil society organizations have an important role in developing and implementing strategies for inclusion. They will learn from Cooperativa LINDBERGH’s experience in the field of social inclusion of migrants and Roma through training, counseling, job and house search assistance.

We will focus on the fundamental rights of people socially excluded and mobilize support to help them integrate in the communities they live in. Volunteers will presentb examples of good practices involving different stakeholders, local and regional authorities, schools and NGOs. Methods of non formal learning: group work, role playing, study visits, demonstrations, meetings and discussions, encourageing active participation and learning outcomes. Participants will improve their competences in developing initiatives for social inclusion of migrants and Roma through mobilizing community resources. They will learn about EU policies for inclusive growth and the possibility to access EU funding for social inclusion projects. Participants will reflect on respect for human rights, inclusive growth, common European values, thus contributing to the development of an active European citizenship. They will learn about the other participants’ cultures. Practical support to participants including interpretation if needed is provided. A cultural program and sport activities will be organized to give participants opportunities to learn about Italian culture and in particular the Liguria region culture, to socialize and establish partnerships that will continue after the project.

MIR is the acronim of the project, but also a word that in many East European languages means "peace", which adds a symbolic meaning to the title. It will be used in publicising the project and project results. A brochure, DVD, and web site will be produced to disseminate project results through the participants' organizations and their regional and national networks.
