Toute personne s'intéressant à la place des minorités en Europe et tout particulièrement au peuple rom et aux Gitans qui en sont une composante, à un titre ou à un autre:

- par la culture gitane et plus largement la culture rom: que ce soit dans le domaine artistique (danse, chant, musique etc.) historique (les origines du peuple rom, ses migrations, sa langue) sociologique (leur place dans la société, l'organisation familiale et sociale) éducatif (scolarisation des enfants migrants).

- par les actions menées par les structures pour permettre ou faciliter leur intégration (associations, églises, pouvoirs publics, Union européenne).

- par la problématique de l'évolution d'une culture orale. Nous souhaitons en particulier que des Roms ou des descendants de Roms participent à l'atelier.

Every person interested in the position of minorities in Europe, particularly Romany people and Gypsy people - who are a part of Romanies - whatever the field of that interest:

- gypsy culture and more widely by Romany's: whatever in the artistic field (dance, singing, music, etc), historical field (Romany people's origins, their migrations, their language), sociological field (their position in the society, familial and social organization), educational field (schooling of children without permanent living place).

- actions led by structures to allow their integration or make it easier (associations, churches, public services, European Union)

- investigation of the problem of an oral culture evolution. We wish in particular Romany persons (or Romany origin persons) would take part in the workshop.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Chaque jour étant consacré à un thème différent, les activités sont axées principalement sur l'échange et la discussion avec des communautés gitanes et sur la rencontre de personnes ou de structures travaillant avec le monde des Gitans afin de découvrir différentes facettes de ce peuple. Le moment phare est la participation à la fête des Gitans aux Saintes Maries de la mer en l'honneur de Sainte Sara leur patronne, le 24 mai. La musique et la danse, composantes importantes des peuples nomades, accompagnent toute la semaine.- découverte de l'histoire des Roms et des Gitans en particulier, de leur migration à travers l'Europe, de leur langue - visite de Nimes et rencontre avec la communauté gitane - réalités quotidiennes présentées par les Gitans - prise de conscience de leurs conditions de vie localement et en Europe - présentation par le musée ethnologique d'Arles du travail réalisé sur la mémoire gitane - visite d'Arles et rencontre avec la communauté gitane arlésienne- découverte de la fragilité de la culture d'un peuple nomade et des efforts faits pour la sauvegarder - la place de la religion et des traditions - les valeurs qui ancrent leur culture- l'influence des peuples nomades dans l'art: danse, musique, spectacles... - journée-débat avec des associations, des élus, des institutionnels nationaux et européens sur «CULTURE GITANE CULTURE EUROPEENNE? Europe: les peuples migrants et la société civile»:- moment privilégié pour rencontrer les responsables locaux, nationaux et européens en charge de différents aspects de la place des Roms dans notre société européenne.- participation à la grande fête des Gitans aux Saintes Maries de la mer le 24 mai en l'honneur de Sainte Sara leur patronne - C'est une occasion unique de rencontrer un peuple migrant dans sa diversité car c'est de l'Europe entière que les Gitans se réunissent pour cette fête - échange sur la place faite aux Roms dans les pays des différents apprenants.
As each day is devoted to a different topic, activities are mainly focused on exchanges and discussions with gypsy communities and on meeting with persons or structures working with Gypsies, in order to see various aspects of that population. Flagship moment is participation in the Gypsy festival in Saintes Maries de la Mer in the honor of Holy Sara their patron saint, on May the 24th. Music and dance, which are key components of Gypsy culture, are an essential background during the whole workshop. Main activities: - discovery of Romany history and Gypsies' in particular, of their migration all across Europe, of their language, visit of Nimes and meeting with a local Gypsy community. - daily life realities presented by Gypsies themselves learners' awareness of Gypsies' living conditions locally and in Europe. - introduction by the ethnological museum staff of Arles of the work made on the Gypsy community visit of Arles town and meeting with its important local Gypsy community getting aware of an endangered culture due to their itinerant life, and of actions in order to keep that culture alive.

Latin American Cultures and People in Europe and the World

This workshop is aimed at Adult learners with a strong interest in Latin American culture, history and language. It is ideal, although not explicitly for those who, having this interest, have not previously had the opportunity to explore in depth their interest due to mobility issues (finance, time commitments, geographic distance from latin based cultures). We will prioritise applicants who have had little or no experience of LLP programmes and those who may not have had any form of formal adult education.

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
The workshop will explore the culture, history and language of Latin America, focusing on Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, plus the historical Aztec, Inca and Mayan civilisations. Specifically, this will be: Argentina - Argentine Tango Brazil - Capoeira (a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music) Chile - A Chilean Folk Band Peru - History of ancient civilisations Uruguay - Multicultural societies brought together by Football. This will be achieved through workshop sessions led by individuals from each country that are experienced in the respective field. It will be a non-formal learning environment, fun and at times participatory (Capoeira especially) workshop. All key individuals involved in delivery the workshop will draw on the rich and diverse communities each culture has here in London. There will be opportunities to mix with the cultural groups represented in a series of social excursions, offering the chance to sample a variety of Latin American cuisines.

Eco-literacy: Biodynamic Gardening and Sustainable Living Skills

Adult learners: - motivated to increase their sustainable living skills - with no prior background in eco-literacy - no international experience - from rural areas - from vulnerable social groups (migrants and early school leavers)

Main activities Programme + Programme translation:
Asha Foundation’s “Eco-literacy” workshop focuses on sustainable living skills and biodynamic gardening, with elements of intercultural learning (understanding nature as a universal language of humanity) and introduction to European citizenship in connection with sustainable development (as the EU is a champion of sustainable development worldwide). The programme, based on non-formal learning methodology, will employ methods such as biodynamic gardening, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and intercultural learning. Twenty participants will explore the above mentioned issues in a six-day programme of activities, including: - Intercultural learning and language diversity activities - Basics of biodynamics – Planting calendar, preparations, star calendar - The cyclical rhythm of life and nature - Composting – the heart of the garden – practical workshop - Planning an organic vegetable garden - Sowing, growing and harvesting – Practical gardening work. - Water use and sustainability - Home grown cooking skills – from garden to plate - European Citizenship and Sustainable Development
