9. R&D ACTIVITIES
The R&D cell has been actively involved in promoting research among the faculty members. It is working closely with the student innovation club to identify and engage in novel projects that benefit society at large.
Science Academies’ Summer Research Fellowships – 2012 & 2013

Summer Research fellowships 2012, sponsored by the 3 National Science academies

1. 
   Indian Academy of Science (IASc), Bangalore,

   Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi,
   
3. 
   The National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad,
   

offers 2 months summer fellowship to enable the students and teachers to work with scientist associated with these three academies.

Last year our faculty member Prof. V. Sujatha was selected and worked as SRF along with a scientist Prof. Balakrishnan at India Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

In this academic year 3 of our faculty members Prof. S. Saraswathi, Prof. J. Emmanual Robin and Prof. P. Anitha from CSE department are selected and sponsored Rs. 20,000/- each to work in a project as SRF along with a scientist.

   Prof. S. Saraswathi has been selected to work with the scientist Prof. T. V. Prabhakar at India Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
   
2. 
   Prof. J. Emmanual Robin has been selected to work with the scientist Prof. Prasanth Kumar Ghosh at India Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
   

3. 
   Prof. P. Anitha has been selected to work with the scientist Prof. Balakrishnan at India Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
   

Sponsorship Received for Organizing Technical Programmes

In this Academic year, a total of 10, 00, 000 /- has been received from funding agencies like AICTE, CSIR and DRDO to organize research programme.

The details are

• 
  Department of ECE has received 70, 000/- from Centre for Faculty development, Anna University - Chennai to conduct one week FDP on Antenna & Wave Propagation.
  
• 
  Department of CSE has received 1, 00, 000/- from ISTE – SRM, for conducting Short term training program on “Application of Data mining in Software fault prediction”.
  
• 
  Department of ECE has received 30, 000/- for conducting National Conference on “Emerging Trends in VLSI, Intelligent signal processing and communication“ from DRDO.
  
• 
  AICTE has sponsored 8 lakhs towards EDC activities for the years 2012 to 2014. In that, 4 lakhs has been received from AICTE.
  

Various project proposals worth 10,00,000/-(Ten Lakhs) were submitted to funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DIT, DRDO,DOTE,CSIR, TNSCST &SCRC-DST.

Consultancy works

In this academic year totally 7 consultancy works have been carried out by CSE, ECE and Mechanical Engineering Departments. Notably the Department of Computer Science & Engineering has developed consultancy projects for Exam Cell Seating arrangement, Automation of Student’s Feedback, Mess Inventory control, Online test quiz Bio-metric Authenticated Attendance project. By this consultancy work revenue of 1,50,000/-
