Kakuen Shonin (Kakuen the Buddhist Priest)
Kakuen was the priest who rejuvenated Chugoku Kobushi Ho as legend has it needs to be investigated because a priest single handily put new emphasis on this art. This person was a very good priest passionate and caring of others. Kakuen the Buddhist priest was born in the new era and lived from (1279 1368).
Another Shorin Priest named Gonshu who came from Chekiang Province Kontoku City was very famous in the art of Bujutsu and all its facets. He learned this art from Kounjin a skilled Shorin Ji Kobushi Ho Teacher. During the beginning of the Ming era's Kasei Nenkan (1522 1567) had particular importance in that during this era even though peaceful life and death situations still presented themselves. Ones social was based on how one lived and how one lived was based on self-defense.
Somatsu Iko during this era had taken Shorin Ji Kobushi and developed in a singular art. He was according to legend a very talented Shorin expert. He taught from the base that was laid down by Daruma Dai Shi and his supreme laws. From this base he taught others the same way he learned.
CHUI #14
The Eighteen Hands of Arhat
This entailed in the study of the eighteen hand techniques taught by Arhat and the study of the self and its original ideological themes and applications.
The above plus the study of the (72) other Hand Techniques and their applications wee covered. Also covered were the (5) Kobushi-Ho originators. From the study of the above a better appreciation of the art can be found. Next is information on the Hakugyoku Mine or the White Crane Mountains and the (4) great men who came form this area. From these four came the remainder of the 176 hand techniques of Shorin Kobushi Ho. Shorin Kobushi Ho and is anti establishment point of view and how is played upon their expansion.

Kakuen and his accomplishments toward Kobushi Ho are never ending. This man was considered a Buddhist Saint for his efforts at revising this art and Buddhism in general.

Next is Songasai Shujin or Songasai the expert. In the secret words of Shorin Kobushi jutsu information from this man on the (18) Hand Techniques of Daruma Dai Shi and the (18) Hand Techniques of Arhat are as follows:
1. Choten Chakukyo 2 Types of Hand Techniques

2. Haisan Unsho 4 Types of Hand Techniques

3. Riko Shinoyo 4 Types of Hand Techniques

4. Ganyoku Shoten 1 Type of Hand Techniques

5. Yucho Koyko 1 Type of Hand Techniques

6. Bankyu Kairi 1 Type of Hand Techniques

7. Kinkyo Roso 1 Type of Hand Techniques

8. Tairyoku Testuto 4 Types of Hand Techniques

Again, Kakuen the expert or Buddhist Priest and his plan to train priests in specialized techniques as well as training them in the priesthood went awry as some had changes of heart when starting this type of arduous training. He advised them their training in conduct is paramount and can only be gained thru the hardships of priesthood and then subsequent training in Kobushi Ho. Its not that they lack in anything particular he once stated but that they lack impeccable character, which can only be learned thru hardship. If they do not train properly and they think one concept is bad then the rest must be bad. They must follow by example. It may seem cloudy at first but in the end a clear sky will appear to guide them on their way. There were many students at the front gate who wanted to be students.
But in order to do so they learn and abide by the 10 commandments of the temple. Listed below are the 10 basic laws of Kobushi Ho:

1. In order to learn the aim of Kobushi Ho one must develop or be able to develop a strong robust body thru heavy physical exercise and must be able to develop a strong character thru the development of a strong spirit. The disciple must practice this under the auspices of a qualified instructor. In addition he must never act without the express permission of the instructor.

2. Upon entering the priesthood the disciple must have a deep understanding of the basics before conversion. He must show promise in his learning's and practices in the basic techniques. He must also be able to apply these techniques in hand to hand defense technique style with strong spirit. Brute courage or recklessness will not be tolerated. This is often inherent in most people but is must be controlled or eliminated. Ones body and mind must be consistent with the rules or punishment will ensue.
3. New disciples must always respect their superiors. Never oppose or counter a superior. Every assignment is taken and accomplished with pride.
4. Friends must never be opposed stay calm in all situations. Sincerity and good faith must always prevail i.e., friends or superiors alike. One must never cheat friends or superiors. One must never display brute strength in any activity without express permission.
5. One is entrusted with certain knowledge must never abuse it and when one is moving around never showoff. When in villages after dark ensure the townspeople you are collecting alms from are content in doing just that. This is an act of contrition for the salvation of the world. This helps the disciple to experience pain and suffering of salvation. One must show a liking for his work and must never display a frivolous attitude, which would offend the Kobushi Ho Laws. One must always display a professional attitude.
6. In order to belong to the Shorin Ji Kobushi Ho Group one must have an impeccable character and must know his opponent spiritually and anatomically. Disciples when in training must develop skin like leather. The adept must understand the nature of this type of training. The disciple must always salute properly and in this way other members will recognize him from the same sect.

Kobushi Ho Temple Laws

(cont)

7) The joining of the hands enabled other members of a sect to recognize on another. And it binds other members of the same sect.

8) The adept shall not engage in tobacco alcohol and eating meat while in the priesthood. These rules must be adhered to. A person who imbibes in these excesses while eventually loose their will to learn and a person who eats, meat will loose their spirituality.
9) Lewdness while in the priesthood is also prohibited. Even one who looks like he has the yearning will be reprimanded. And while eating all priests must refrain from looking at one another and concentrate on the meal at hand.
10) All techniques learned in childhood must be forgotten. The adept will learn all forms of manners, virtues, etc anew. Adept’s actions must never harm anyone as it would reflect on the sect as a whole. The new adept must understand the Buddhist's basic concepts and true aim. There are many undertakings one goes thru which will enable the adept to do many new things however strong or violent actions are strictly prohibited. Thru this type of training ones life will have real meaning. All of the training received many good things will result both physical and mental type abilities. One must take a solemn oath to not do any of the above and hold fast and protect all to the end. At some point in time ones thoughts can be distracted and ones attention can turn to the dark side. He has instructors who can guide him back on the path.
One must always protect his lord, family and friends. The sect should come first because of the information one is entrusted with. One must never train frivolously. One must always cast aside doubt and fight evil wherever it may be.

Ordinary people are always at odds with their spirit and adepts should be warned of this same quandary. The self when training in Kobushi Ho must pay attention to the lessons of senior instructors and master teachers. One must never take boastful attitudes. One must also when mourning for the dead or helping the injured must at all times protect said recipients from harm by any means. An adept must always train to use his basics wisely. At some point in life one must use these techniques however, it depends on the circumstances. One may one day see that all he has learned will come to fruition.

As we go thru life nothing is static life has many permutations and spiritual gateways that we often have to traverse either good or bad. If one reflects on ones training in a positive *light and stick to the basics in religion and Kobushi Ho one will rise above it all and be victorious.
In the world there may be pain, suffering and shame so that we may see the cause directly or indirectly, and that often we have no control over destiny. What can be the cause of evil who knows? We may have caused the evil or something else may have. The key it stem it before it expands and consumes us all. When in serious doubt reflect back on our teachings or seek the guidance of a qualified teacher. After understanding these basic guidelines in Kobushi Ho and Buddhism an adept using this type of training will do so with impeccable character.

HAKUGYOKU NO MINE

(White Jade Mountain)
The high priest of the Hakugyoku Mine temple Kakuen was known as a saint who made many changes and had much influence in Kobushi Jutsu and Kobushi Law. In Shansi Province in an area where primitive man was evolved from Kakuen the saint together with the mountain legends formed the basis for his Buddhist Sainthood. The fist way was spreading rapidly and three laws of Kobushi Ho being implemented.

Hakugyoku Mine or White Jade Mountain area is weaved into this record to form a standard for the development of the (5) fist ways as was talked about before. However, much detail has been omitted from these writings.

TZUZEN WA SHONIN (Tzuzen the Saint)
Tzuzen or Shutokuchu came from the Meimatsu no Koko Nenkan (1642 1658) during the era of Fuku 0 Doshuchu and during the year 1662 when the Ming Dynasty was destroyed/overthrown the Shorin priest Tokudo came in secretly to settle some problems/differences the new and old government had. Tzuzen would review the proceedings regarding the Ming’s downfall and rescuing the Ming Dynasty's remaining retainers and standing up to the new Dynasty. But the new ruler summarily exiled the two groups. Doshuchu disagreed with the Ming’s and attempted a Ming revival but was also put down.
Tzuzen the saint as he was referred to was also referred to as Honshin Fukumei. His efforts were like fire blazing across the frontier. The Ming Dynasty surviving retainer Koetirin (Nichi Chiroku) made for the Shorin Ji frontier to hide in.
According to 0 Seinan's Boshimei or Epitaphs, Koteirin and Enseizen Sensei who learned the art of the sword along with Shorin Kobushi Ho and anatomy formed a sect called Shorin Shuha. This Ming Shorin sect wanted to be patterned after Tzuzen's sect and was based on the (10) commandments that Tzuzen set up are presented below:
1.) Shorin Techniques must be learned properly by the adept. This was very important and must be studied day and night. The body must never be caught off guard.
2.) Everyday day in the morning one must pay special reverence to the Ming Founder before anything else in the form of prayer and bowing. After this one may begin to train. At night before sleeping the same procedure is

repeated as was in the morning. Never be caught off guard.

3.) At the designated practice hour Shorin Kobushi starts with the horse stance. Chui; (5) different postures are required utilizing the (3) way stepping method. The three step method is used then advancing one foot at a time using a half moon step coming from the horse stance inside then out again to the opposite side and repeating (3) times. One must not forget this important way of stepping.

4.) Sincerity and good faith bind members of the Shorin Sect. These should always be practiced and reinforced. The sects brethren always act in concert.

5.) Shorin Ha Kobushi Ho and Bujutsu and their respective exercises are first and foremost in training. Students must always use Kobushi Ho fist salute when greeting other members of another sect Left hand palm covering the right ' fist, eyes raised high and standing tall. When one greets another member of the same sect both hands out front in a tiger claw position with the backs of the hands facing the opponent and held high away from the chest.
6.) When one is wandering or on a sojourn and one is witness to certain instances first and foremost one must show deference by bowing in the midst of other students. When one is positive of the intent of the other and his Wa is known, then you can relax. Other groups of students for example often examine one another to look for weakness in the spirit or posture or to look for any un-preparedness to advance and crush.
7.) Bujutsu teachers; one caution prudence and preparedness and make an example out of the student thru prudent examples and selective sampling. From this comes loyalty and cordiality and provides assurance of the self. From this point the teachings begin. The teacher is not thinking of the self. This is sect law. Thoughtless or careless acts by students or teachers are forbidden. One must always repeat their exercises continually and use any mistakes to correct their form.
8.) Students must always think of the environment also. The rivers and mountains are most important. One's sect area is sacrosanct. This resolve must always prevail.

9.) Always believe, always assist when possible, always help in saving someone or something. Always endure thru all adversity. Always carry these thoughts thru your life. During one's conversion into Buddhism one must confirm one's belief in Buddha at all times. One must never be weak.

10.) The Master Teacher is of exalted and sacred status and should praise his teachings highly above all else. Ones senior instructors should be honored as friends and comrades and love should prevail. Cravings of the spirit should be watched carefully. Sexual passion is also prohibited. This commandment must be observed and to sin in this area is punished by banishment.
SHODEN SEICHO [CHUGOKU BUJUTSU)
The above mentioned information on the study of Bujutsu is sometimes dangerous and requires exquisite care as the protocol has to be observed and monitored as these techniques often cross boundaries into Jochiryu no Kihon which uses 3 positions of attack and defense in their form. Also postures must be held until the danger has passed.
Chogoku Kobushi Ho no Kakumon Ha model is used while conducting military exercises. The majority of the Military Gate Groups were transmitted by word of mouth but propriety was always observed in doing so. Most groups had open and closing gate ceremonies as a part of protocol between groups.
After the Shin era Dynasty the Fist Bowing or greeting methods of Kobushi Ho changed somewhat. Before the Shin era we had the right fist covered the left open hand palm. The right fist symbolizes and evil or wrongdoing and the covering left palm hand symbolize the suppression of evil. This is the real meaning. In order to have harmony in the spiritual Brotherhood arena there must be spiritual peace or cooperation amongst brothers.

During the Manchu's control over the Chinese people the right over left symbolized oppression of the people, but the other way around symbolized the ongoing revolution to reverse this change.

Let’s look for example at the characters for the Ming Dynasty. It is made up of two radicals nichi meaning day and getsu meaning moon or together the Chinese translation Min” or Ming. The right open palm hand symbolizes the joining or the opening then combining these with the above you get a symbolism of the Ming era.

The Ming and Manchu were constantly putting down Kobushi-Shi or Kobushi Saints. But the Chinese people knew that the Manchu were evil and with the fist attitudes they used, symbolized this feeling that was especially prevalent in the Kobushi circles. They had banners put up stating “Hanshin Fukumin” opposes the Shin restore the Ming.
The founder’s way as recorded in the historical records state that the Kobushi Ho proponents felt the same way about the Manchu and the Ming as the common people did, thus the hand salutes were a form of rebellion.
The Tiger Hand Salute comes from Tzuzen the Saint and is mentioned in his (10) laws. The hands put back to and held chest high. The Manchu people were defying the oppressor Manchu and their spirit put toward the underground Ming effort.
Nigiri Kobushi Reishu

(Clenched Fist Salute)
The righteous fist to righteous fist salute face each other clenched fist fore knuckle to forenuckle at chest level indicates your pledge to serve during war.
When the Manchu's era fist salute came about peace was born thru self-experience during the rebellion. This form of self-expression was born into etiquette which changed the conduct of the Chinese people. This era's man of power was pursued relentlessly northward toward Su Yama and into the Shorin ji precincts seeking the Kobushi Shi, then again southward. He was proglamating the over throw of the Manchu and restoration of the Ming or Hanshin/Fukumin which established martial control in China based on etiquette developed in the Southern Area KobU3hi HaIs. There many more Shorin Ji people in the south and that helped gain support for this cause.

Uechi Ryu Karate Do ni Densho or as told thru Uechi Ryu Karate Do legends there was talk of the three position hand salutes one being the left open hand palm covering the right close fist. This then showed proper etiquette, goodness and or kindness when encountering and Uechi Ryu Group or school members.

Peace and love in the brotherhood was the aim with this form of etiquette to include loyalty to the art and to man's ultimate destiny.
The Man Koenbu (1613 1682)
In Koso Province in the city of Koyama at the close of the Ming Dynasty and the opening of the Manchu's new people era there was Buddhist Koenbu who went by the Buddhist pseudonym of Kyorin. He hailed from one of the small villages near the city. Since his childhood he had a taste for the martial arts and literature. He read history books extensively to gain historical insight and thus this was core of his upbringing. He was also studying quite a bit of pro8e and poetry. To be a literary person at the close of one Dynasty and on into the other was something else altogether. Seeing and documenting the best of both worlds.
At the age of 32 he was witness to the downfall and destruction of the Ming Dynasty by Manchu soldiers based on in central China. The point being that the Ming's still thought they were in control. The Ming's were grasping at one last straw to gain control. With studies and scholarships being initiated abroad this was a good opportunity for continuing study Koenbu.
Before as was discussed Koenbu studied Kobushi Ho extensively was in exile from the Ming Dynasty regime. He was one of the other remaining retainers who disagreed with their rule. He wrote many journals and records of his studies and travels.
There is a lot of good information based on historical records from the 7th century into the 17th century regarding the lives and times of the Shorin Ji Kobushi Ho Sohei. These records provide much incredible insight in to their way of lives. Thru proper research authentication their actions must be read about first hand, in order to gain a proper perspective of these famous warrior monks.

---Kwakuganko---

Around the year 1900 during the Chomei era which was known as one eminence era. There was one man who had much knowledge and expertise in the area of Kobushi Ho. He was known as Kwakuganko. He was the best of the Manchu Martial Artists and was the originator of an elite organization called the Shinbu Taikukai. He was responsible for the resurrection of Chinese Kobushi Ho during this era.
Kwakuganko was a refugee from a Christian Missionary during the Giwaden Jiken or the Boxer Rebellion 1899 1900. The Giwaden era was a very dangerous time and dangerous. This man was remarkable in that he knew how to wield two swords with such finesse that it was astounding. At the age of 43 he was still young in the world’s eyes and in business matters. It was said that he had traveled with Miyagi Chojun who was the forefather of Goju Ryu into China during the 11th year of Showa in an exchange of ideas and truths.
In China during the Ming era there were many books written about military tactics. Two of such interest was the two following bright jewels in the literary arena. They were the [Ming Dai no ni Dai Bujutsu Sho] (Two big writings on Bujutsu during the Ming Era) Kiko Shinsho/Chi hsaio (New History Book) and the Bubishi/hsin shu (Military Readiness Records). These two were composed by composed by Sekikeiko (1528 1587). His descendants wrote about other things for example the Toshu Sengoku Jidai (BC 403-221) which was some of the oldest known military historical records known to man. These writings gave the military much study material to use when initiating military tactics or used as lessons learned type of scenarios. These military writings on strategy rank with the best even today. In Chekiang there was a palace being guarded by Sekikeiko and his monks using these same tactics contained in old volumes. The rules using these tactics were enforced to the letter especially during live action. Also there were also special sections on tactics used when boarding sea going ships and the use of firearms.

In 1557 in Chekiang and Fukien Provinces these were the areas where the sea pirates and the Mongolian invasion forces were destroyed. This was known as the Nanko   Hokuryo (Southern Enemy/Northern Captive) situation. The writings of Chi hsiao and hsin shu helped defeat these two enemy forces. These writings and their contents helped contained the following information: Eastern squadrons, law manipulations, battle laws, soldier discipline, prohibited laws, comparative an anatomy, camp conduct, military exercises, front line defense, commanders, tactics for sudden attacks, archery laws, first sutra, tool implementations, flags, defender scouts, water tactics etc, etc. There were (18) volumes in all plus volumes on Kobushi, Kaiho Shijo, and war business dealings.

Two other big topics Tanhei Choyosetsu (11) volumes, and Kobushi Keishoyo (14) volumes and the latter mentioned volumes prefaces contain the basic information for soldiers to learn Kobushi Ho.
During the Ming era the martial experts and their groups will be spoken of briefly. After that then the (24) Kobushi Ho techniques will be looked at or explained.
Note: Soku Shi Bugei Zensho

Complete Record Set of Tactics
These writings are form China and no other source to ensure non contamination.
Also in the Ming era Koenbu was studying and practicing many different arts and reading many different literature books on history. Nothing was missed in his education. This priceless information is still useful today as is shown or detailed. The Kobushi sutras and their purposes were outlined and detailed in most of Sekikeiko's writings of Chi hsiao/hsin shu.
From the writing Geren Suihan Sha which was present during late Tokugawa era there was a Kobushi Ho expert born in 1759 Taiyama Shiryu. He was a great Tokugawa swordsman who wanted to learn Kobushi Ho. He went by another name Ryubiko no Cho.

Preface

Stillness in a craft such as Kobushi Ho denotes the negative aspects of this art and this talent must be nurtured and fostered by the soldier. It takes special talent to conserve energy and strength within and without. This is learned in the military schools. But there are great numbers who negate their training because of improper basics. Careful inquiry is needed into the basics in order to learn an art properly. One must stop and read these volumes carefully in order to understand and implement their deep meanings.

Kobushi Ho is not an art that can be imitated. One must commit to the basics and learn this art of developing the mind, body and spirit. To decree the feet to act does not mean they will defend you properly. One must partake in intense training in basic, intermediate, and advanced techniques in order to make a system work.
One must look at what one is doing. There is no room for frivolous practice or play when one is entering into an important craft field such as Kobushi-Ho. After one has learned the basics of the fist basic stances one will start to see the benefits. One must also be careful not to digress in ones training i.e., falling back on bad habits. Always persevere.
The hand law has its advantages, as does the leg law. The basics are simple and as one advances ones body will begin to solidify. The thighs will harden as ones body stoops and rises during basic preparation or warm-up exercises or technique preparations. It may seem strange to perform such odd exercises. But once you are able to overcome obstacles much larger than you are you will see the benefits.
What is in this term strength? A horizontal technique is used to pull and tear but is that all? Any one can pull or tear with brute strength but, to pull or tear with no strength is something else. If one can catch or retrieve this strength from the heavens, so much the better.

One will always have a hundred excuses as to why he cannot gain this type of strength, but thru proper training of the mind, body and spirit one can do almost anything.

There is what is referred to as the (30) strengths in hand techniques. Every system has them. They will come as the basics are developed. One must never stutter or stumble during training. This will allow the enemy an opening. To approach an opponent with quietude is something quite disconcerting.
To negate an opponent’s move is profitable to both. Watch for signs or openings in the person’s movements no matter how trivial. This is the key to an effective Kobushi strike. In different situations involving life the righteous thundering negated strike is what one wants to develop and initiate. There are other reasons for the negated strike but time, place and circumstances all play an important role.
Is an offensive negation useful? By settling the spirit and beckoning the opponent with the same one can use negation in different ways without physical contact. One must learn how to spread the force of a strike or others movements outward.
But to divide such power up and try to control is may not make one victorious. One must know about the fist way its people, history, and a technique to see how effective this system was. Now we come upon (32) influences or energies in the Kobushi Ho system of stepping.
One must be proficient in both striking and stepping. This is especially true with the Ko Kobushi method or Monkey Fist. Also known as the deception fist. It has its own energies or influences with its use. But in truth most of the influences in this method are almost the same as the regular fist way. The standards though differ slightly. There are (72) fist methods in the deception way. (36) Of these are hard strikes while (24) of them are throwing techniques and the remaining (12) are short flashing striking or jabbing techniques.
The person must also have knowledge of the (8) backbone or Red Techniques. Strength here at the outset is not important as the basics. That can be attained as a long-term goal. What is important at the outset along with basics is stretching and being limber. This way the adept achieves many goals plus extending the strike beyond normal capacity. In Japan in the middle Ages there was a clan referred to as the Hawk Clan who had developed the (10) barefooted capturing and stretching techniques. Some Shorin-31 specialists as being of interest noted these techniques, as they were done in series of three's. The same was noted in the spear techniques. Thus came about another legend of the three commas’ or the Mitsudomoe.

Each one possessing a different power but in essence they are terms of nothingness. Through nothingness one can achieve victory. Through negation also comes nothingness and perhaps that is the meaning of Kobushi Ho is "'Nothingness or Mu". Kobushi Ho teaches us that sometimes the mountain is made to shake without is appearing to do so. In battle this is especially important.

When one attacks never forget about the enemy's tail. The attack forward comes but like the scorpion the tail is also dangerous. The head and tail aspect is very important to understand. After understanding this ideology nothing could pose a problem for those Kobushi Ho adepts who have mastered the Fist Way. The Kobushi Ho adepts who also have mastered the Fist Way must also master the sword, spear, bow, gaff, sickle, techniques. These basic techniques are a must in relation to the negation principles. This Fist Way principle is very important in this martial art.
Once this principle is known an understood one will know the source of power for this art and one will also be able to see the big picture. This is good for the military in that it increases their knowledge base when dealing with enemies. After one is fully trained the proof will be in the kata of Kobushi Ho and the technique. The enemy is always testing one in every aspect of your life but properly negating the enemy you cut him off at the feet and return in kind with justice that is final. The art or craft of Zen is also important in any activity be it art, war, or peacetime. This craft may seem strange but it is an effective tool.

It helps develop and guide one's spirit in every aspect of life. It take great courage to stop an arrow with parts of one's body but thru effective training this also can be negated. There are (3) famous Kobushi Ho warriors who were the top rated Kobushi Ho adepts who knew how to wield the fist and apply the correct principles to make this system work. Since these three there have been no others. (End Chinese Translation)

The great Kobushi Ho wars were undertaken to exemplify the true intent of the Fist Way for example 1.) Justice, and 2.) Righteousness however, in order to make this way work the hands, feet and mind/spirit must act in union. In the beginning of this study and its basic crafts the union must be flowing in order to work. Once that has been done many new doors will open for the adept.
The reason for all this training and understanding of principle is that there was only one house of Kobushi Ho with branches In that the craft stays pure if everything is in harmony. In order to learn Kobushi Ho one must know the limitations of the body, how it functions, and how to help others and oneself when seriously injured.
The Hand & Foot Way techniques can be beneficial and there are many advantages one can gain especially in the repelling, flying techniques, or rising techniques
These techniques appear to be delicate in nature and may look like they are not useful or powerful but these techniques are used in various ways then striking or kicking i.e., to break away, overturn, roll away, and reinsert oneself to counter attack.
Again the fierceness of ones countenance is also important it enables one to create openings and perform the right piercing techniques with horizontal hand strike for example and can be a comfortable to use without much power.
Now we have the other techniques, which involve capturing or seizing. Some techniques are soft some are hard. Some are horizontal, vertical, oblique, or used in a flash.
All these techniques help in developing the self. There are (32) influences one can learn and choose from for self-development.

There is an idea of using energy upon energy and it works in conjunction with the techniques. Each time one is applied energy is either used or replenished. This allows one to deal effectively with a variety of opponents on different plains. It allows you to be like the chameleon. One can also capture an opponent’s energy and use it against him. Recognizing subtle shifts in energy patterns or fields is very important.
