INR 289 History of Political Thought I

This course focuses on history of political thought from the perspective of political philosophy. The student is expected to have a requisite level of knowledge on the key issues in political philosophy.




SPRING TERM
INR 202 International Relations II

Some of these are security issues such as terrorism and nuclear proliferation, political economy issues such as global trade, finance, and regional integration, global governance issues such as international law, regimes, and international organizations, sustainable development issues such as environment and poverty, identity issues such as nationalism and culture, human rights issues, gender issues, and globalization.

INR 216 Political History II


The content of this course consists of political developments that had influenced nations since the World War I and especially during the Cold War period which proceeded the Word War II.
INR 286 Open Economy Macroeconomics
The relation between international trade and finance, and national economy (balance of payments and national income accounts), How the value of national currency is determined in terms of other currencies; how different in their effects are monetary and fiscal policies in open economies compared to closed economies; The implications of different forms of international monetary systems on countries at different level of economic development.

INR 288 International Law II

This course focuses on main topics and controversies in public international law. The topics we study include Air space and outer space, state succession, Environment, State responsibility. The student is expected to gain a confidence to speak on the daily conflicts with regard to the theory of international law.


INR 290 History of Political Thought II

This course focuses on history of political thought from the perspective of political philosophy. The student is expected to have a requisite level of knowledge on the key issues in political philosophy.



III. YEAR



FALL TERM

INR 301 Turkish Political Structure and Politics I


After this course, student can understand and evaluate Ottoman heritage on Turkish political life. Thanks to paper and presentation, they may develop their ability in writing, speaking and presentation skills.

INR 305 Turkish Foreign Policy I


Students who are taking this course are expected to gain a knowledge on the basic principles of Turkish foreign policy, the determining factors, basic issues on the policy agenda until 1980s and the way they’re handled by the Turkish policy makers; will be able to analyse and evaluate the effects of the Cold War politics on the states, specifically on Turkey; the background of Turkey’s EU candidacy, Turkey’s relations with the USA and USSR, the changing patterns, Cyprus effect, economic requirements and limits of Turkish Republic. These issues and some other important ones will be analysed in the class and at the end of this course students will be ready to study on the current Turkish foreign policy agenda.
INR 311 Turkish Economy

The Turkish economy will be discussed in general. The effect of weak and strong aspects of economy on Turkish foreign policy


INR 331 Diplomatic History of the Ottoman State

A review of the history of the Ottoman Empire’s foreign relations with its neighbours and foreign policy issues in neighbouring regions in 18th and 19th centruies. In this course, the foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire will be studied and it is aimed that this course will enlighten the current foreign policy issues in the included regions.



INR 309 Diplomatic Language and Correspondence (Elective)

Style and techniques used in diplomatic correspondence. Rules of conduct in speaking and writing reports.
INR 317 Environmental Politics (Elective)

Different definitions of environment, environmental dimensions, components, harmful and destroying applications on the environment and environmental responses in return are going to be included within the limits of this course. Therefore, the policies which defines our perceptions and aproaches towards the environment will be studied both at national and, mostly, at international levels.


INR 319 Russian History (E)

Student who take this course will have a survey of Russian history from the rise of Kievan Confederation of 9th century to the collapse of the Soviet Union; the Period of Russian Empire, reform, revolution, ideology and society; the Soviet state, institutions and processes involved in the formulation and implementation of the Soviet foreign policy; the collapse of the Soviet Union focusing on the major domestic problems including political stability and economic crisis.



INR 321 Foreign Policy Analysis


Student who take this course will be able to analyse the making and implementation of foreign policy in theory and practice; foreign and security policy-making, the history and language of Foreign Policy Analysis, the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches.

INR 327 Politics of Internationa Migration


Students who have chosen this course will be a comprehensive and enlarged scope in understanding our contemporary world affairs by using an outstanding and very exciting tool of analysis. They will have a deep-sighted vison on different types of migratory movements, sociological, economic, legal, and political aspects of migratory movemets, the state’s responses and attitudes of international organizations and sivil society activities
SPRING TERM

INR 302 Turkish Political Structure and Politics II

After this course, student can understand and evaluate modern Turkish political life. Thanks to paper and presentation, they may develop their ability in writing, speaking and presentation skills.




INR 306 Turkish Foreign Policy II


Student who are taking this course will be able to analyse the current developments related to Turkish foreign policy and will have an analytical tool to understand the forthcoming issues and developments on Turkish policy agenda with having an academic vision.
