INT 643 US Foreign Policy


At the end of the course, students will be learnt the hegemonic power and they may use their knowledge in all regional studies.


INT 645 International Trade Theory and Policy


To make students understand the causes and effects of international trade. Why nations trade and what are the gains from trade. What are the trade policies, how are they employed, and what are the implications.

INT 649 Theory of Economic Integration


Analysis of economic and other forms of regional integration arrangements in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South and North America. Motives and non-economic rationale behind forming regional groupings. Costs and benefits of forming regional groupings in both standard and new theories.
INT 651 Transboundary Population Movements And World Politics

Students who have chosen this course will be a comprehensive and enlarged scope in understanding our contemporary world affairs by using an outstanding and very exciting tool of analysis. They will have a deep-sighted vison on different types of migratory movements, sociological, economic, legal, and political aspects of migratory movemets, the state’s responses and attitudes of international organizations and sivil society activities.

INT 608 Balkan Politics


This course aims to study the emergence and the evolution of modern Balkan States; to analyse characteristics of the Balkans as a sub-system of international politics and foreign policies of Balkan States. The main developments at Balkan area and the related issues will be studied by taking into consideration the international circumstance, too.

INT 622 Seminar

INT 630 International Security


The historical origins of the strategic theory will be studied within the framework of this course. The main strategic theories will also be analysed in this course. The fundamental concepts of diplomacy; strategic behaviour, power, influence and pressure in international relations; state system of the world and problems of contemporary strategy; the effect of nuclear weapons; theory of nuclear deterrence, crisis management and limited war; control of weapons and mutual deterrence will also be analysed.

INT 632 European Integration And European Union


At the end of this course, the student will learn the emergence and the development of the EU, and gain the ability to evaluate the future of the relationship and the accession of Turkey to the EU by studying Turkey – EU relations which contunie for fifty years

INT 634 Conflict Resolution


Juridical and political conflicts fell into the scope of International relations and they are two of the most leading subjects amongst some others. The ways and methods of providing peace; the activities of the United Nations and the institutions related with the United Nations; the activities for the common security and peace keeping will be analysed within the framework of this course.

INT 638 Research Methods


This course aims to teach about philosophical bases and goals of research methods in social sciences. Quantitative and qualitative research methods will be taught in this course. Data collection and classification techniques and methods of analysis will be evaluated. Students will be given useful means for not only searching data and resources but also, useful means in writing their thesis as a next step.
INT 640 Current Issues in World Politics

Student will gain at the end of this course an ability to understand and analyse the current issues on world politics agenda, their effects on the states, the system and the individuals. They will have a chance to enlarge their visions and update their knowledge on world politcs on the eve of graduation.


INT 644 Nationalism And Ethnicity in Making Foreign Policy

The meanings of the concepts of nationalism and ethnicity will be studied within the framework of this course. Evolution of nationalism; the nation state and problems concerning ethnicity; the role of ethnicity and nationalism in making foreign policy will be analysed.


INT 650 Globalization and World Politics

To give students the understanding of the reality of globalisation with its different dimensions, and to investigate how nation-states benefit from globalisation and avoid or minimize, if possible, its harmful effects.


INT 652 History of Diplomacy

The content of this course consists of Euro-cantric political developments that have global impacts starting with the Vienna Conference until the World War I.


INT 654 Economics of Natural Resources

This course introduces students to the theoretical themes involved in the study of management of natural resources. It provides students with an overview of the key concepts, methods and actors at both national and international levels. This course also aims to give a better understanding of Turkey’s policies of natural resources management from a comprehensive and interdisciplinary perspective.


INT 656 Issues in International Law

This course focuses on main topics and controversies in public international law. The student is expected to gain a confidence to speak on the daily conflicts with regard to the theory of international law.
