4.2MPEG-D: Part 3 Unified Speech and Audio Coding

Profiles for USAC were defined and became part of N12231 ISO/IEC 23003-3/FDIS, Unified Speech and Audio Coding. There are two profiles defined. One is on Baseline USAC using USAC technology only, a second one is Extended HE AAC profile which uses USAC tools but requires also decoding of HE-AAC v2 bitstreams.

5DASH

Profiles in DASH were reconsidered. Now, there are six profiles in N12166 Text of ISO/IEC 2nd DIS 23009-1 Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. In addition to the Full profile, three profiles based on the ISO Base media file format (ISO Base media file format On Demand profile, ISO Base media file format Live profile, ISO Base media file format Main profile) and two profiles based on MPEG-2 TS (MPEG-2 TS Main profile, MPEG-2 TS Simple profile) are defined. It is not clear which profile will succeed in the market.
