0 . Students have to try to remember where each
word card is. Divide the students into two teams. Students
name a card and ask a question about it, e.g.,
Number 3. Is it juggling? Turn the chosen word card over. If it has the
word
juggle , answer
Yes, it is and the guessing team keeps
the card. If it doesn’t, say
No, it isn’t and turn it face down
on the board again in the same position. Continue the
game until all the cards have been guessed correctly. The
team with the most word cards wins the game.
Messages Students write a message on a slip of paper and put the
slips of paper into a bag/box. The message can be an
instruction, a request or an invitation
. Students then take
turns drawing out a message and pass it on to another
student by reading it aloud. The chosen student responds
or performs the instruction and then draws out the next
message.
Tic-tac-toe Use any nine word cards
. Draw a tic-tac-toe grid on the
board (a 3 X 3 grid). Attach one word card face down in
each of the nine squares. Divide the class into two teams:
the Xs and the Os. Each team takes it turns selecting a
card and turning it over. They have to read the word on
the card and either make a sentence or ask a question
using it. If they do this correctly, they score an X or an O in
the square. If they make a mistake, the other team scores
the X or O. The first team to get three Xs or Os in a row is
the winner.
