Unterrichtseinheiten, Vorträge, Diskussionen und Austausch von Erfahrungen (oral-history Konzept).
Durch eine Öffnung für Bildung sollen Suryoye-Assyrer-Frauen die Möglichkeit erhalten, Zugang zu Bildung zu finden. Dies soll sie dabei unterstützen, ihre an das Haus gebundene Rolle als Hausfrau und Mutter zu relativieren, um mehr Selbstbewusstsein und Stärke zu erlangen und ein europäisches Verständnis und eine gesunde Integration in die "europäische" Gesellschaft zu finden. Bei dem Workshop werden Suryoye-Assyrer-Frauen aus verschiedenen Ländern Europas zusammengeführt und ihnen wird die Chance gegeben, mit Frauen in derselben Lage zu kommunizieren und bedarfsgerecht gemeinsam zu lernen. Durch die Teilnahme von Frauen aus den einzelnen Ländern können unterschiedliche Kenntnisse und Erfahrungen eingebracht werden. Der Workshop wird ein umfangreiches Bildungsprogramm bereitstellen, das dazu beitragen soll, dass die Frauen aus der defizitären Situation herausgeführt werden. Denn nur durch ihre (Weiter-) Bildung kann ihre gesellschaftliche und kulturelle Lage verbessert werden. Sie lernen selbstsicherer und selbständiger zu werden. Die neuen Bildungschancen für die Frauen werden grundlegende und nachhaltige Auswirkungen auf ihre familiäre Situation haben. Die Frauen lernen im Workshop neben den Bildungsinhalten im engeren Sinn sich selbst zu organisieren: ihr Wissen an andere Suryoye-Assyrer-Frauen weiterzugeben, diese zu aktivieren, ihnen durch ihr Vorbild Mut zu machen und sie dazu zu bringen, sich an Bildungsangeboten aktiv zu beteiligen.

In this workshop, participants will learn different dimensions of empowerment through a facilitative leadership style and gender approach, focusing on women of minority groups. We will be analysing together women's international legislation, gender-sensitive policies, interventions and rights-based practices within their leadership role in the education, governance and entrepreneurship fields. The training has been developed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs, Spain and has taken the approach of Initiatives of Change into consideration. It is embedded in and an integral element of the conference entitled 'Learning to live in a multicultural world: Tapping Civil Society's Potential' hosted by CAUX-IofC.

Medieval Ceramics of Cyprus

Senior citizens wishing to improve skills and develop their creativity and expression in ceramic art. The workshop is open for learners from the eligible, in the context of Grundtvig programme, countries who have got artistic sense manual skills and strong motivation.

The Medieval Art in ceramics is an art that goes throughout and unites Europe, a rather common expression of art. Although the techniques were common to all countries, some materials and the way of expression were different according to the customs of each country. Cyprus, at the medieval time, was an important trading centre of the Byzantium Empire, exporting ceramic artefacts to other countries. This workshop will provide special techniques to the learners that are not available through other activities.

8/10/2012 Presentation from participants. Introduction of the workshop program. Basic Clay workshop, hands-on experience .
9/10/2012 Demonstration of the scrafitto technique. Participants apply the technique. Study pictures of medieval pottery and choose designs to transfer on pottery. Engrave the design. Biscuit firing
10/10/2012 Field trip to the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia. Lecture about history of the medieval ceramics of Cyprus by an expert archaiologist. Visit to a local artists' studios to talk and discuss with the artists in person on the way back to Larnaca.
You will have the oportunity to decorate a prefired ceramic object which later be fired during the demonstration of the raku firing.
