IPICS BAN:05 - STUDIES ON SAFETY, EFFICACY AND ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS OF HERBAL FORMULATIONS OF BANGLADESH
ISP support to the activities started in 2013, to build a new research group led by the first PhD in environmental chemistry from Dhaka University (Dr. Md Rausan Zamir, graduated from IPICS BAN:04)
Objectives
The overall objectives of the group are to identify toxic components (heavy metals, pesticides, microbes) in herbal preparations, to identify preservatives in herbal preparations and to study adverse health effect (genotoxicity, oxidative stress, cardiovascular effects) of the effective dose of herbal preparation.
Group leader
Dr Md Rausan Zamir(Research Group Leader) and (2) Dr Md Safiur Rahman (Deputy Leader)

IPPS BAN:02 – Magnetic, Structural and Electrical Properties of Ferrites, Nanocomposite and Perovskite Materials
Support started 1980.
This is a collaboration between the Dept. Physics, Bangladesh Univ. Eng.Technol. (BUET), Dhaka, and the Magnetic Materials Division of the Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka (AECD), forming the Dhaka Materials Science Group. ISP has supported the activity since 1986. From 2017 the group split into BAN:02/1 (BUET) and BAN:02/2 (AECD)
Objectives
Synthesis and characterization of bulk and nanostructured spinel and perovskites and study their magnetoresistive, magnetocaloric and mutiferroic properties (BUET).
Synthesis of nanomedicine and performance study using rodent and cancer cells (AECD).
