Duties




The Organisation

The Naval Materiel Seaworthiness Assurance Agency (NMSwAA) is a new organisation that is being established to provide the Chief of Navy with justified confidence that Navy’s maritime platforms are seaworthy and that they can deliver the required capability to government. The functions of the NMSwAA are grouped into four primary roles:

The Position Description

The Industry Support and Liaison Officer manages the Naval Materiel Seaworthiness Assurance Agency’s (NMSwAA) interface with other assurance agencies for the coordinated delivery of materiel assurance activities. The position also manages any contractual support agreements within the agency. In addition, this position also monitors maritime industry developments and keeps abreast of Classification Society requirements.
This role requires excellent stakeholder communication and consultation skills, contractual management skills, the ability to work effectively with a range of organisations, as well as the skills to develop and implement policy documentation.
These roles require the occupants to undertake the following responsibilities:


  • Coordinate, monitor and report on the surveillance activities conducted by other Defence assurance agencies.

  • Liaise with Classification Societies to remain abreast of industry developments.

  • Work collaboratively with other materiel assurance providers in order to provide a holistic approach to materiel seaworthiness assurance.

  • Build and sustain effective relationships with other materiel seaworthiness assurance providers to ensure that assurance activities are conducted as effectively as possible and not duplicated across the naval enterprise.

  • Represent Defence at forums and conferences related to materiel assurance and industry liaison functions.

  • Manage the contractual arrangements for all industry support personnel contracted to the Naval Materiel Seaworthiness Assurance Agency (NMSWAA).

This role requires the occupants to have the following capabilities:




  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes.

  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.



Eligibility


Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at 'Baseline Vetting' level.
