Duties


The Director of Mental Health Clinical Programs and Standards offers a challenging and exciting opportunity to contribute to policy and programs that support the mental health and wellbeing and the recovery of ill and injured Australian Defence Force (ADF) members. You will be a senior member of a dynamic and expert team developing and delivering the policy and quality assurance advice and support in areas such as, suicide prevention, alcohol and other drugs, mental health service delivery standards, occupational rehabilitation, family engagement and sensitive practice and evaluation of ADF mental health programs.
You will be senior leader within a branch with responsibility for provision of policy, research and assurance systems that support delivery of quality and effective health care to ADF members through Joint Health Command. You will lead an integrated ADF and APS multi-disciplinary team including mental health professionals, represent Mental Health, Psychology and Rehabilitation branch and Joint Health Command at key forums and multi-agency meetings and contribute to the collaborative approaches that support a Command responsive and person centred approach to mental health and wellbeing. You will initiate and maintain strong relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders and utilise these to work towards mutually beneficial outcomes, including managing risk from a multi-agency approach. You will have demonstrated experience in the provision and management of clinical mental health services and the development and application of policy, governance and assurance systems to support quality outcomes.
It will be important for you to demonstrate that you can apply that experience to the Defence and ADF environment. You will need to be a qualified and registered psychologist, social worker or mental health nurse with significant and relevant post graduate qualification and experience in the delivery and management of mental and allied health services and programs.


Eligibility


Qualifications/Experience Requirements:

Qualifications and registration as a Psychologist, Social Worker or Mental Health Nurse with relevant management experience in the following areas of, clinical service delivery, policy development, quality assurance and evaluation of mental and relevant allied health programs and services.


Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at 'Baseline Vetting' level.

Duties


The Director is responsible for leading and managing a team of Military, Australian Public Service and Industry professionals in determining the requirement, identification, development and delivery of Navy infrastructure, as well as the provision of Navy input on Defence Estate & Infrastructure Group (E&IG) managed infrastructure projects, base support issues and facilities aspects of Seaworthiness. The Director also manages all aspects of Navy infrastructure in relation to the 30 year Capability Life Cycle (CLC), including participation in relevant Integrated Project Teams.
The successful applicant will have strong leadership and management capabilities and superior communications skills and be able to competently manage, motivate and mentor directorate staff and the allocation of resources as appropriate to deliver outcomes.
