(1159)  (1159) Alla som tager emot de budskaper som Herren sänder for att rengöre och rense dem från alla ulydighedens vaner mot Hans bud och tillempning till välden, och som angrer deres synder och reformerer, ser efter Gud efter hjälp och vandrer på lydighedens väg mot Hans bud, vilt tage emot guddommelig hjälp till att rette deres onde handlemåde. Men dem som tilsyneladände angrer och söger Herren, men alligevel icke bortlägger det onde i deres gärningar, vilt icke endast skuffe sig själva, men de får vist deres handlemåde i symboler eller lignelser, vilt de föle skam och sorg fordi de har skuffet Herren. De har håbet stolet på deres egen handlemåde. Som et folk är det blivit sat i rette, och alligevel har de icke bortlakt de onde gärningar som kräver irettesättelse (MS 65, 1912).

All who receive the messages that the Lord sends to purify and cleanse them from all habits of disobedience to His commandments and conformity to the world, and who repent of their sins and reform, looking to God for help and walking in the way of obedience to His commandments, will receive divine help to correct their evil course of action. But those who apparently repent and seek the Lord, yet do not put away the evil of their doings, will not only disappoint themselves, but when their course is placed before them in symbols or parables, they will feel shame and sorrow because they have disappointed the Lord. They have hoped and trusted in their own course of action. As a people they have been reproved, and yet they have not put away the evil works that called for reproof (Manuscript 65, 1912).{4BC 1159.1}

10-12. Ånden arbetar icke ut över människolig modstandskraft. - Åndens inflydelse på människosssinneet vilt regulere det efter den guddommelige orden. Men Ånden arbetar icke på en måde och kraft der är utover människoagentens modstandskraft. Et människo kan nägte att höre på Guds råd och formaninger. Honom kan välge att tage styringen av hans uppförsel i sina egne händer; men når honom gör detta, är honom icke gjort till et kar till ära. Liksom Moab, nägter honom att lade sig forandre, tömmes från fad till fad, och fördenskull forbliver hans duft på honom. Ha nägter att rette sina mångalfulle karakterträk, selvom Herren tydeligt har utpeget sitt arbeta, och sina privilegier, sina anledninger och den framkomst der skal ske. Der är for vanskeligt att bryde upp på gamle väge, och forvandle hans tanker och metoder. ”Dets duft tabte sig icke.” Honom klynger sig till hans mangler, och är dermed icke egnet till det hellige arbeta i forkynderembedet. Honom var icke villig till att ransage sig själva så nögon, eller fråga nögon om ljus vilt skinne på honom på en klar och uttrykkelig måde. Hans bönner är icke steget upp till Gud i odmjukhed, medens honom med odmjuke besträbelser pröver att upplive sina bönner med forståelse och utföre sin uppgåva.

10-12. Spirit Does Not Work Beyond Human Power of Resistance—The influence of the Spirit upon the human mind will regulate it after the divine order. But the Spirit does not work in a manner and power beyond the human agent’s power of resistance. A man may refuse to hear the counsels and admonitions of God. He may choose to take the regulating of his conduct into his own hands; but when he does this, he is not made a vessel unto honor. Like Moab, he refuses to be changed, emptied from vessel to vessel, and therefore his scent remaineth in him. He refuses to correct his defective traits of character, although the Lord has plainly pointed out his work, his privileges, his opportunities, and the advancement to be made. It is too much trouble to break up his old ways, and transform his ideas and methods. “His scent is not changed.” He clings to his defects, and is thus unfitted for the sacred work of the ministry. He was not willing to make a close examination of himself, or to closely inquire for light to shine upon him in a clear, distinct manner. His prayers have not ascended to God in humility, while with humble endeavor he sought to live his prayers by understanding and performing his duty.{4BC 1159.5}

(1159)  Efter att Herren har sat én på pröva och trängsel, så honom kan forvisses om sitt kald till forkynderembedet, i fall honom är tilfreds med att fölge sin egen väg och sin egen vilje, i fall honom icke vilt giva akt på Guds Ånds manifestationer, i fall honom nägter att få utbytte vid väkst i nåden och forståelsens dybde, forvisses honom om att Herren icke behöver honom; for honom kan icke kommunikere med det som honom aldrig har modtaget.

After the Lord has put one on test and trial, that he may be assured of his calling to the ministry, if he is content to follow his own way and his own will, if he will not heed the manifestations of the Spirit of God, if he refuses to profit by growth in grace and depth of understanding, be assured that the Lord does not need him; for he cannot communicate that which he has never received.{4BC 1159.6}

(1159)  Enhver själ skal tjäna. Honom skal bruge alla fysiske, moralske och mentale kräfter, genom Åndens helliggörelse, så honom kan vara en medarbetar sammen med Gud. Alla är bundet till att hellige sig själva aktivt och uforbeholdent till Guds tjänaste. De skal samarbeta med Jesus Kristus i det stora arbeta att hjälpe andre. Kristus döde for alla människor. Honom har lösköbt ethvert människo, vid att giva Sitt liv på korset. Detta gjorde Honom så människot icke längere lever et formålslöst och selvisk liv, men så det kan leve for Jesus Kristus, som döde for sin frälsning. Alla är icke kaldet till att gå in i forkynderembedet, men icke desto minre, skal de göre det alligevel. Det är en forhånelse mot Guds Helligånd om något människo välger att leve et liv i selviskhed.

Every soul is to minister. He is to use every physical, moral, and mental power, through sanctification of the Spirit, that he may be a laborer together with God. All are bound to devote themselves actively and unreservedly to God’s service. They are to cooperate with Jesus Christ in the great work of helping others. Christ died for every man. He has ransomed every man by giving His life on the cross. This He did that man might no longer live an aimless, selfish life, but that he might live unto Jesus Christ, who died for his salvation. All are not called upon to enter the ministry, but nevertheless, they are to minister. It is an insult to the Holy Spirit of God for any man to choose a life of self-serving.{4BC 1159.7}

(1159)  Forkyndergerning betyder icke blot att studere bögernes bok och forkynde. Det betyder tjenstligt arbeta (Brev 10, 1897).

Ministry means not only the study of books and preaching. It means service (Letter 10, 1897).{4BC 1159.8}

(1159)  Sanningskundskapen praktiseres icke. - Denna beskrivelse av Moab repräsenterer de församlinger som är blivit liksom Moab. De har icke stået på deres pliktpossst som trofaste skeldvakter. De har icke samarbetat med himmelske intelligensväsener vid att utöve deres Guds-givne evner till att göre Guds vilje, presse mörkets kräfter tillbaka, och bruge alla kräfter Gud har givet dem till att framme sanning och retfärdighed i våra välden. De har en kundskap till sanningen, men de har icke praktiseret vad de vid (MS 7, 1891).



Knowledge of Truth Not Practiced—This description of Moab represents the churches that have become like Moab. They have not stood at their post of duty as faithful sentinels. They have not cooperated with the heavenly intelligences by exercising their God-given ability to do the will of God, pressing back the powers of darkness, and using every power God has given them to advance truth and righteousness in our world. They have a knowledge of the truth, but they have not practiced what they know (Manuscript 7, 1891).{4BC 1159.9}

(1160)  (1160) Gud uppdrager Sina medarbetare. - Gud har givet enhver man sitt arbeta, och vi skal anerkände visdommen i Hans plan for osss, med et hjerteligt samarbeta med Honom. Det är endast i et liv i tjänaste att der fines sand lykke. Honom som lever et nytteslöst och selvisk liv, är ynkelig. Honom är utilfreds med sig själva, och med alla andre.



God Disciplines His Workers—God has given to every man his work, and we are to acknowledge the wisdom of His plan for us by a hearty cooperation with Him. It is in a life of service only that true happiness is found. He who lives a useless, selfish life is miserable. He is dissatisfied with himself and with every one else.{4BC 1160.1}

(1160)  Herren uppdrager Sina medarbetare, så de kan forberedes till att utfylla de steder der är utpeget till dem. Derved önsker Honom att utruste dem till att göre en mera acceptabel tjänaste.

The Lord disciplines His workers, that they may be prepared to fill the places appointed them. Thus He desires to fit them to do more acceptable service.{4BC 1160.2}

(1160)  Et liv i ensformighed bidrager icke mest åndelig väkst. Någon kan endast nå den högonste standard for åndelighed, vid en forandring i den alminelige orden av tingene. Når Gud i sitt forsyn ser att forandringer är nödvendig for att få succes med karakteropbyggelsen, forstyrrer Honom livets jävne strömme.

A life of monotony is not the most conducive to spiritual growth. Some can reach the highest standard of spirituality only through a change in the regular order of things. When in His providence God sees that changes are essential for the success of the character-building, He disturbs the smooth current of the life.{4BC 1160.3}

(1160)  Der är dem som önsker att vara en herskede makt, och som behöver underdanighedens helliggörelse. Gud framkalder en forandring i deres liv. Måske visar Honom plikterne for dem, som de icke vilt välge. I fall de är villige till att bliva vägledt av Honom, vilt Honom giva dem nåde och styrke till att utrette dessa plikter i en underdanig och hjälpsom ande. Derved kvalificeres de till att utfylla steder, var deres uppdragne evner vilt göre dem till stor tjänaste.

There are those who desire to be a ruling power, and who need the sanctification of submission. God brings about a change in their lives. Perhaps He places before them duties that they would not choose. If they are willing to be guided by Him, He will give them grace and strength to perform these duties in a spirit of submission and helpfulness. Thus they are being qualified to fill places where their disciplined abilities will make them of great service.{4BC 1160.4}

(1160)  Någon uppdrager Gud vilt att pådrage dem skuffelser och synlige fiaskoer. Det är Hans formål att de skal lära att mestre vanskeligheder. Honom ingyder dem med en beslutsomhed der får enhver synlig fiasko till att bliva till en succes. Människor beder och gräder ofta på grund av de forviklinger och forhinringer de stöder på. Men i fall de vilt fastholde deres tillid helt änden, vilt honom klargöre deres väge. De vilt få succes idet de kämper emot tilsyneladände uovervinelige vanskelighed. . . . .

Some God trains by bringing to them disappointment and apparent failure. It is His purpose that they shall learn to master difficulty. He inspires them with a determination to make every apparent failure prove a success. Often men pray and weep because of the perplexities and obstacles that confront them. But if they will hold the beginning of their confidence steadfast unto the end, He will make their ways clear. Success will come to them as they struggle against apparently insurmountable difficulties....{4BC 1160.5}

(1160)  Många vid icke hvordan de arbetar for Gud, icke fordi de behöver att vara uvidände, men fordi icke vilt underlägge sig Hans uppläring. Moab omtales som en fiasko fordi, som profeten erklärer, ”Moab var tryg från sin ungdom, . . . . det häldtes icke från fad till fad och vandrede icke i landflygtighed; fördenskull holdt det sin smag, och dets duft tabte sig icke.”

Many are ignorant of how to work for God, not because they need to be ignorant, but because they are unwilling to submit to His training. Moab is spoken of as a failure because, the prophet declares, “Moab hath been at ease from his youth, ... and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.”{4BC 1160.6}

(1160)  Den kristne skal forberedes till att göre et arbeta, der uppenbarer, venlighed, överbärenhed, långmodighed, venlighed, tålmodighed. uppdyrkes dessa dyrebare gåvor till att komma in i den kristnes liv, så honom, når honom kaldes till tjänaste av Mesteren, kan vara parat till att bruge sina högonste kräfter, till att hjälpe och velsigne dem omkring honom (RH 2. maj, 1907).

The Christian is to be prepared for the doing of a work that reveals kindness, forbearance, longsuffering, gentleness, patience. The cultivation of these precious gifts is to come into the life of the Christian, that, when called into service by the Master, he may be ready to use his highest powers in helping and blessing those around him (The Review and Herald, May 2, 1907).{4BC 1160.8}
