1.2 Statement of the Problem Schools have high accountability in building nation. The most important function of schools in
teaching-learning process is insuring quality of education in all aspects, recognizing and
handling all diversity issues. The researcher knows that Fitche Town is well known for religious,
socio-economic status, ethnic, language diversities.
In 21st century diversity has affected nearly every aspect of education such as access and equity,
teaching methods and student learning, quality, and management. Increasing literature on this
has shown that diversity in teaching methods has enhances teaching and learning effectiveness.
Research findings have also provided the evidence of the benefits of educational outcomes of
diverse educational environments. In a number of ways students‘ learning process, outcomes
and performance are enhanced by increasing critical thinking, and problem solving ability.
However, more attention is needed to be given on the aspects like how diversity is addressed and
managed in the teaching and learning process to enhance the students understanding. But all
these issues should go along with the institutions‘ goals and budget. Therefore, most of the time
there is a gap between how many students‘ wants to learn, and teaching aids used by teachers,
and how they teach in the class. The reason for choosing the Fitche town is that, its geographic
location includes both urban and rural life style. So, by expecting more diversified society in the
area and to use the researcher experience as a community member in the area. It helps to the
study to identify and understand the context of the society for in-depth analysis and findings.
Therefore this study identifies the diversity among students, teachers‘ opinion on diversity, and
how they manage the diversity in government Secondary Schools fitche town.
1.3 Research Questions The study has attempted to answer the following basic research questions:
