Course goals and objectives:

• 
  To acquaint the students with possibilities and limitations of psychological counseling which form the basis of all types of psychological practice;
  
• 
  To acquaint with the ideas and techniques of main directions of counseling;
  
• 
  Acquisition of initial practical skills in counseling;
  
• 
  To acquaint with the approaches and methods in counseling used for life planning and career choice.
  

Course annotation:
The study course looks into main directions of psychological counseling: psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic. The key notions are as follows: the goal of psychological help, psycho-technique. Eclectic and integrative trends in contemporary counseling, the developing and psycho-correctional potential of art techniques are discussed. Non-traditional directions, the theory of experience, techniques of individual counseling, such components of psycho techniques: as reflection – maeftics, awareness – understanding, experience – empathy, unconsciousness – interpretation are considered. Practical methods of counseling, used in life planning and career development are considered.

Requirements to earn 4 credit points:
