Duties


IHPA was established in December 2011 as part of the National Health Reform agenda. IHPA is independent of Commonwealth, state and territory governments and is governed by the Pricing Authority.
IHPA is seeking a highly experienced finance professional to undertake the duties of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will assist in supporting the strategic direction of the agency.
The CFO role requires comprehensive knowledge of financial practices in government including financial accounting, management accounting and statutory financial reporting. The ability to quickly gain a sound understanding of the agency’s operating environment is essential.

Eligibility


To be eligible for this position applicants must hold membership of a relevant professional accounting body recognised in Australia or be able to show substantial progress to the attainment of membership and relevant tertiary qualifications.
To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.
The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.

Duties


The multidisciplinary nature of therapeutic products regulation is a feature of working at the TGA. As a Senior Microbiologist, you will be responsible for undertaking evaluations and providing high-level specialist advice in relation to microbiological matters concerning manufacturing and testing of medicines, medical devices and biological products.
Additionally, you will be responsible for evaluating and implementing new technologies in the laboratory, developing standard operating procedures and training staff in the new techniques. You will participate in the development of sterilization and microbiological standards, and as required, assist as a specialist inspector during inspections of manufacturing facilities.

Eligibility


To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application.
Mandatory Qualification:

  • A Degree in Science, or equivalent qualification, with a major in microbiology.

  • Post graduate experience in sterilisation validation science and its application in a regulatory setting.

About the TGA

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is part of the Australian Government Department of Health, and is responsible for regulating therapeutic goods including, vaccines, medicines and medical devices.


The TGA administers the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (the Act), applying a risk management approach designed to ensure therapeutic goods supplied in Australia meet acceptable standards of quality, safety and efficacy (performance), when necessary.

We evaluate therapeutic goods before they are marketed and monitor them once they are on the market and assess the suitability of medicines and medical devices for export from Australia.

We also regulate manufacturers of therapeutic goods to ensure they meet acceptable standards of manufacturing quality.
