Description of the study course




Title of the study course: The situation of labour force in Latvia and the European Union.

Title of the study programme: Personnel management
Amount: 2 credit points with a test ECTS - 3 credit points

Aim of the course:

To introduce the future specialists of personnel management to the situation of labour force in Latvia and the EU..



Expected result:

The graduates have to be able to select employees who would satisfy the enterprise’s requirements and determine the amount of their salary according to the situation on the labour force market in the European Union, considering the trends of its development.

Preliminary knowledge from Part A are required: Fundamentals of economics, accounting and statistics.

Specific requirements: to carry out thorough research into statistics and forecast materials on the situation in the labor market in the EU, especially the situation in Latvia.

Guarantees after the acquisition of the course: The study course forms the methodological basis of student diploma papers on the issues of compiling work force and remuneration, provides skills for practical work in national economy.

The Description of the Study Course
The title of the study course: Communication psychology
The title of the study program: Personnel management
Amount: CP 2, 3 ECTS

The aim of the course:

To increase the comprehension on the principles of communication process, mechanisms developing inter-personal correlation, to enlarge the knowledge on productive elements of communication, to foster the students’ aspiration to perfect their personality growth and emotional intelligence, to encourage self-analysis and self-reflection desire.


Envisaged results:

  1. to acquire the basis of positive communication,

  2. to assess characteristic individual interrelation to themselves and the types of communication,

  3. to develop comprehension on communication and interrelation barriers.

Attained knowledge on effective positive communication, ability to empathy, tolerance, as well as skills to listen to and discuss, talk and present in front of audience and self-assessment ability.

Essence of non-verbal communication,

Means of non-verbal communication

Speech expressiveness;

Visual contact;

Structuring of communication time and space by organising one’s own behaviour in a definite way (of course, subconsciously);

Business etiquette.

Emotional contact.

Open and closed poses, their application essence and conditions,

Organisation of communication distance and space.

Means of non-verbal communication for information exchange.


  • Skills of verbal communication:

  1. Skills of listening- (non-reflexive and reflexive)

  2. Skills of talking - ( in case of a speech in front of audience during a monologue, report, lecture, dialogue, discussion).

By questioning clarify interests and needs, personal experience;

Sum up and structure experience and knowledge;

By help of questioning shift the responsibility.

Comprehension of one’s own orator skills and development opportunities.

Overcoming of stress and its prevention before a presentation in front of audience.

Skills to produce a positive correlation link;
