The aim of the course:
To develop the students’ multi-language competency, by acquiring the German language basics, to foster the reflection on foreign language learning process and comprehension of it.
The envisaged results:
To acquire the German language skills on A 2 level in accordance with the European language skills acquisition standards, i.e., enable the students be competent and communicate in the standard-situations in the German language, to perfect their learning strategies and comprehension of the opportunities of their use.

Title of the study course: Rhetoric
Title of the study programme: Personnel management

Aim of the course:
To promote the formation of a humanly orientated personality, to help to understand rhetoric as the feature of the general and social culture of a personality, to cultivate expressive speech skills, which are useful for a person as a personality and personnel manager.
Expected result:
The rhetoric course introduces students to the concepts and basic categories: the nature of rhetoric, oratory art, the characteristic features of an orator, including the personnel manager.
The course envisages to give an insight into different issues of communication during a public monologue and dialogue, psychological and logical barriers and how to overcome them, body language during public speech.
Students are given an overview of rhetoric in different periods and the variety of the public speech today. Students develop their skills at public speech as well

The aim of the course:
To introduce information on political processes, enrich with the basic knowledge about their own state, its history and nowadays, state system and governing mechanism, citizen role in political and social processes, so that personnel management students could implement this knowledge in their future professional performance.
Envisaged results:
The students, who have successfully completed this course, have to be able to analyse and critically assess politics, urgent political basic issues, relevant in politics to the inhabitants of Latvia. In accordance with the professional standard to develop a personality thinking positively and participating actively in the political life of the state that could be able to participate in the development of civil society in the framework of democracy.

Students have both to study several themes autonomously and also prepare autonomous works on the issues discussed by these themes. While studying the theme – Significance of information in politics; students accomplish a practical research, by comparison of two major Latvian newspapers and assess their objectivity according to clearly stated criteria. Other three works have to be prepared as reports.

Assessment of knowledge and testing of skills are relevant part of the study process, and the assessment forms are defined by the education standard.
